Description

Corporate Atyaachaar: The Comical Journey Of An Office Doormat is the story of a subservient employee working for an obnoxious boss, with hilarious results.

Summary Of The Book

Corporate Atyaachaar: The Comical Journey Of An Office Doormat is the comical story of a young, submissive employee trying to fit into the big, bad world of finance.

The story is set in Bangalore, against the backdrop of the phenomenal rise and fall of the stock market during 2007-2008. The protagonist is a 24-year-old guy, fresh off the campus and newly recruited to a corporate firm as a financial advisor. Like most novices starting their first job, he is bustling with high aspirations and energy.

However, on the first day itself, much to his dismay, his boss turns out to be quite an obnoxious, dominating person who keeps him on a tight leash - forcing him to work late, refusing leaves, stealing credit due to him, and so on.

Both the employer and employee have the task of managing the investments of some wealthy clients. During the course of his new job, the latter encounters a variety of clients, and numerous experiences that have nothing to do with the world of finance. He happens to discover that one of his clients creates nude art for the sake of charity while another is fond of hot body massages. His constant subservience to his boss works against him at every turn. However, with a timely nudge, he just might decide to stand up for himself.

An amnesic dancing dog and a missing musical mobile thrown into the mix add to the hilarity of the plot.

The author has deliberately chosen not to name the characters. Instead, he refers to them by using nicknames based on their role in the story. Hence, the plot is marked by characters like Inflated Ego, The Yuppy, and The Slimy Salesman.

Corporate Atyaachaar: The Comical Journey Of An Office Doormat was published in 2010 by Srishti Publishers. It received positive as well as negative reviews.

Atyaachaar nahi hai itna

A month or so ago, I had either received a tweet or mail from Abhay Nagarajan, wondering if I had read the above mentioned book.

Frankly, it was of no interest to me and had forgotten, till last week, looking for a book on flipkart saw the book and price (Rs. 100/-) ordered it along with Witness the Night by Kishwar Desai The Premier Murder League by Geeta Sunder.

Aha, well back to the afore mentioned book. A sort of poor @sidin about investment counselor from two tier B school and his boss...

Perfect product!

It's a wonderful book. This books gives light in the darkness especially to working professionals who are laden with heavy work load and hardly smile during the day. But The Author is so positive in his way of thought that even in a place like office, he brought fun elements and made others also feel the same way irrespective of working conditions. This book proves one proverb to be right that Sometimes it is good to be big fish in a small pond. Great Book. I recommend it to all of you.

Not funny at all.

The author as a first time writer has tried his level best to create a funny satirical comedy set in a different world other than the current books on IT as we are seeing in the market.

The book follows the journey of a newly hired college graduate as he struggles to learn the ropes of an Financial Advisor at Bangalore. The Boss is labelled as an essential villain who in reality is much less intimidating than reproduced in the book. No girls or love angle produced in the book that is now-a-d...

An eye opener to the working of India's Corporate bosses

Corporate attyachar realistically depicts how corporate bosses are managing their young talents...then charge them being over ambitious, money minded, not sticking to any job for quite long time....

It's a must read book for students looking forward to a corporate life...of less work, more meetings, more hours...no after work life and obnoxious bosses...

I look forward to read Abhay's second book as well.

No Atyaachaar!!!

I got this book from Flipkart. The first few pages went good, then it turned out to be just okay! There were a few puns, but not hilarious. Basically, it was just a personalized diary being publicized. All about meeting with clients -- first meeting with A, first meeting with B, first meeting with C, second meeting with B and stuff. After a point the meeting, to readers like me, gets boring. It could have been really better. The plot was mercilessly screwed, screwed big time. To really identi...
