Corsair Force Series 3 120 GB SSD Internal Hard Drive (CSSD-F120GB3A-BK)

Corsair Force 3 is perhaps one of the best performing SSD out there having a Sandforce controller that earlier had issues with BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). But with the new firmware release this issue was fixed like 6 months ago. I purchased this drive from Flipkart and to be clear- this SSD is "Phenomenal".

It delivered maximum write speed of 510MB per second and read speed of 560MB per second with 1GB data broken into 1024MB chunks. This is amazing and is just 5-10% lower than the faster OCZ Vertex 3 which is 3000Rs. costlier. The temperature always remains at 27C in my laptop and consumes very minimal power. Extremely shock resistant (you may Youtube a video where a small boy threw this drive from 3rd floor and it still worked! The reason is SSD's have no movable parts like HDD, and it's very light)

I give it a 10/10. Awesome value for money!

PROs and PROs only:
1. Probably this is the best 120GB SSD at this price.
2. SATA III / 6 Gbps transfer speed.
2. 2.5 t0 3.5 inch adapter provided.
3. Corsair brand name.
4. furioulsy fast. Whereas I get around 90-110 MBPS transfer speed in from my SATA-II to SATA-III HDD, here I get around 400-500 MBPS. Yes!!! you heard it correctly. A 1 GB movie file hardly takes 3 seconds to get tranferred even from my USB 3.0 ext HDD to this SSD. Enable AHCI mode in BIOS to get maximum performance.

Cons: None

But I did not like the packaging from flipkart. Although it has great shock resistance way more than the HDDs, still considering this is a disk, a little more thermocol or air pockets should have been wrapped around the original packet. But nonetheless I received it without any issue. Loaded Windows 7 in just 14 minutes and my PC is running like a champ.

I was a bit skeptical when I decided to purchase a SSD.
It is much more expensive than a HDD and offers less storage.
Anyways I ordered this one and let me pen down my impressions.

I bought this for my new SB build.The first noticeable change is the boot time.
Boot speeds-
Windows 7-
without SSD-around 20 seconds
with SSD- 9 seconds approx

Windows 8-
without SSD- around 10 seconds
with SSD- 4.5 seconds approx(literally)
*to get faster boot speeds you'll have to install your windows on the SSD,not HDD
*used simply time calculator of my mobile

Transfer speeds-
I'm really disappointed by this aspect.
transfer speeds are really slow,ranging from 85Mb-200Mb
*I tested by copying a file from SSD and pasting it in the SSD only

Gaming-
No changes in gaming performance

Problems
At first windows started crashing itself and showed blue screen all the time.I don't know why,but this problem vanished after some time.

Now time for some pros and cons
Pros-
1.Faster boot time(around 50-60% faster)
2.Noticeably smoother experience
3.Small in size.
4.Corsair is trusted brand.

Cons-
1.Slow transfer speeds
2.A little problematic

You should get this SSD if either you are a enthusiast or you some heavy software's like Adobe after effects,premiere pro,sony vegas pro etc

This is one of the fastest SSDs available right now based on sandforce chips, its a perfect balance between price and perfomance.

It is asynchronous nand and has problems with in-compressible items. Synchronous nand of higher priced products like Corsair Force GT and OCZ Vertex series gets better performance all the time.

But in real world the performance gain is hardly noticeable,if you are upgrading from a hdd you will love the responsiveness of it, the speed and you will absolutely love the performance.

At its price this is the one to go for. If you can pay more go for Force GT or Vertex series with better all round performance and less failure rates.For day to day Force 3 is more than fast enough and at times faster.

Be sure you have a motherboard capable of AHCI, sata 3. and also check if trim is enabled and this thing will blow you away :)

I have been using this SSD since last 3 months. I had ordered it after my 3.5 year old Seagate 500GB HDD failed up on me and refused to boot. It worked out of the box after I connected it to the system. My 3.5 year old PC was able to recognise and read from it. The available memory is however shown as 111 GB as against 120 GB of capacity. Win7 installation was a breeze as this drive is faster. After installation noticed that the boot-up time has improved considerably by atleast 30-40%. The performance index score as rated by Microsoft in the Win7 CP also showed considerable improvement.

I am very happy to have been using this as It has boosted my PC's overall performance as if it is running in TURBO mode.
