Cowon X7 160 GB MP4 Player

First of all Flip-kart service is 9.5/10. I got some online transaction error due to internet traffic which got resolved in the very next day. I got the product within 4 days since Bangalore does not have the stock and it has to come from Bombay.

Sound quality is just Awesome :) No one at this price range can beat it :). Need to do some settings change for music controls.

Touch screen you need to get used to it. Best option is operate it slowly, then it will response fast. 7/10

No a/v cable or line in cable. Need to buy it separately.
Ear phone is also OK kind of.

Bottom line: I just love this device. If you are looking for great music quality with huge space then this is the best buy. Otherwise go for Cowon J3. Thanks to Flipkart once again.

Got this player from Flipkart in just two days from ordering. Was very excited to test this player as I had read many fabulous reviews about it on different forums and sites.

About my impression about this player after listening to it for approx. 50+ hours, it sounds really fantastic, just as i had read about it. Sound is well detailed, clean & exciting. It has loads of presets namely BBE and jet effect presets. I tend to prefer BBE MP over others as it focuses more on making sound fuller with lossy formats sch as mp3. Without any preset sound can be a bit boring (you can notice this by turning off the preset during playback of any song). Sound-stage is decent in size. One of the biggest plus point for this is its battery life, which is insanely large (specification of 106 hrs of audio playback against 36 hrs of playback for 160GB Ipod Classic). I charge it only once in a week and it lasts without any problem. Screen size is quite large with touch screen. Files can be easily transferred by just drag and drop method. Build also looks quite good as the player feel solid in your hand.

About the cons, the display is mediocre considering this is priced at 18000. Its the low resolution screen, due to which one can notice pixelisation during the movies. Touch screen is resistive, hence it feels sluggish in its response compared to capactive touchscreen of new phones. Presets tend to colour the sound, though colouring is not very serious but it is present. BBE tend to emphasize bass more, so if you have a bass-heavy headphones this effect will be prominent (btw most of us have cheap quality headphones which are bass-heavy). Lastly you need to invest additional 4-5k on good quality headphones/in-earcanal headphones to really get juice out of this player (I already have Beyerdynamic MMX 101 IE, so that was not a problem for me :P).

In all I am very satisfied with this purchase. Good sound quality , battery life and storage space was more important to me than any other factor. I have deducted 1 star only because of screen quality and touchscreen. I can definitely recommend this player to others.

I was on a look out for a dedicated MP3 player with large storage space (and not phone audio/video). So the choice was down to Apple Classic Ipod and X7 (160GB both). Apple haven't worked on the Classic for quite a while and chances are that it will be discontinued/de-supported sooner thn later.

What I got with X7 was great battery life, excellent audio quality with its BBE audio settings (better thn apple's sound) and a decent video player which plays more formats thn Apple.
A better headphone/earphone investment will be needed.

I just hope I can say the same about the X7 performance in another year's time or more. :)

This is a great player when comes to sound quality ,and presenty there are only two like these, ie ipod classic 160gb and cowon x7 160 gb......awsome sound qulity...i own both cowon is much better in terms of sound qulaity ,if you are an audiophile, this is a MUST BUY
