About Gayle Laakmann McDowell
Gayle Laakmann McDowell has been in the Information and Communications Technology industry for a long time and has worked for different companies like Microsoft, Google and Apple. She has penned another book called The Google Resume.
McDowell has a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in computer science. She taught two computer courses in the University of Washington. She has her own venture, CareerCup, which prepares aspiring techies for interviews with IT companies through forums for discussion, and videos of mock interviews. She had been on the hiring committee at Google for 3 years.

Excellent book, but do you need it?As other reviewers have mentioned, it's an excellent book, since the author had the privilege to work in some of the top software companies that we aspire to.

The missing ingredient!Was it ever your dream to be in one of the top-notch companies India (the likes of Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe etc) & you thought the interview rounds were too hard. Well, the rounds are hard (believe me) only because facing those questions on the spot makes your brain go drifting somewhere else (happened to me..).

Excellent for professionals, not useful for rookiesThis book is very straightforward, author assumes that you are Pro programmer with proficiency in data structures algorithms and their implementation and coding language, so she presents you straight answers to the problems, no explanation.

Do the thinking after you buy it.I have gone through many interview prep books and frankly speaking, there isn't any better alternative out there. Some are loosely organized, some are bland and some are too C -centric. These days, most coders like me are usually comfortable with Java and C# concepts and with the liberty in interviews to code in any language, this insider's account of interviews and how to prepare for it is apt and meaty. Page quality is very badThe page quality of this book is very bad. It seems like it has been made from recycled paper. My friend purchased this book from store and the quality of his book is good. So it seems the problem is with the publisher, the details of which are below. Try to avoid same.
