The making of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education as their fundamental right in the year 2009 is a landmark event in the History of India. For implementing Right to Education Act (RTE), 2009, there is a requirement of a large number of dedicated teachers and educators. The teacher recruited as such should possess an aptitude and ability for teaching. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has laid down minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher. One of these is that a person eligible for appointment as teacher should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), to be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the guidelines by the NCTE. The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on 26th June 2011 for the first time.
