Description

Assessing performance of one’s student is what every teacher does many times in his/her career. But what if the teacher is a terrorist trainer and the student a suicide bomber? What if a visit to a historical place throws up an unexpected opportunity to listen to a firsthand report of the historical event from a person who was present at that time? This is the age when everyone talks about zero tolerance to corruption. How would one react to a typical malpractice at a railway booking counter? When does a deal become a steal? Or more importantly does stealing make a purchase a better deal? These and other similar questions are discussed in Curiosity Kills the Katha, a collection of humorous yet though provoking stories with surprising endings.

About the Author
Ashok Kallarakkal (Dr. T K Ashok Kumar) is a senior Management/IT professional working out of Bangalore. He is an engineering graduate from REC Calicut (at present NIT Calicut) and did his doctorate in International Business from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore. Ashok has written a number of science fiction stories in popular regional science magazines like Shastra Keralam in his school days, but had curtailed his urge to write more, to devote time for higher education and building a career like every other middle class youth. He rediscovered his flair for writing fiction while writing innumerable sales proposals as part of his job. His dream now is to spend more and more time on creative writing and other passions from 2012 (Though this does not mean moving back to a sales job). His wife Sandhya is a lawyer turned software professional turned housewife and their only child Anjali is studying in the second grade in Bangalore.

Good read

The title is all wrong - Ashok's curiosity makes the kathas come alive! The author's offbeat outlook and his quirky sense of humour is readily apparent in every page - more so in the hilarious 'Tipping point for Wrongdoing'.

The stories, especially 'Revolution's End' has deeper questions often camouflaged in light, everyday writing. The characters as in real life are neither black or white and the events are not always easily justifiable.

Thoroughly enjoyable.

Incredible First Attempt

An attempt from a Management Techie, turning his skills he had left to achieve the Technical Expertise in the present Industrious world is really incredible.

The title "Curiosity" reflects in reading each and every stories in the book, and you cannot leave the book before reading completely.

Waht is impressive is simple thoughts like
1. Euthanasia
2. Never to steal from another thief
are expressed in a gripping style.

I wish the Author very Best in his passion for writing and ...

It was a beautiful Katha Collage

Simple, thought provoking and straight from the heart. The subtle humor makes it an enjoyable read. The book reminds one of O'Henry's short stories and Jefferey Archer's "Quiver full of arrows". This sure is a bouquet of fresh flowers.

Would definitely recommend it for a different perspective at the mundane things we miss noticing in our everyday life.

Techie turned author neatly melds Bangalore and Kerala

Enjoyable collection of stories from an REC Calicut and IIMB educated IT professional turned author, go for it! Bangaloreans and Keralites in particular will find familiar locations and themes. If you look past the occasionally patchy editing, you’ll discover a nice little mix of city-meets-small town tales with a twist.

Well-crafted stories with subtle message

The catchy title is what attracted me and then the author profile, being a Bangalore IT lad, literature creations from namma city is really close to heart. The book was delivered to me yesterday and it is already read cover to cover.
Very interesting collection of nine short stories narrated in a simple but catchy language. Each with a touch of daily life characters we might have encountered some time or other. Very interesting and certainly a big achievement for a first time author. Wishing...

Surprised to find such a great collection from an Indian author!!!

Traditionally short stories are considered to be American Authors' bastion. When I came across this title, I was pleasantly surprised. Though I have finished only three stories so far, I could see glimpses of O Henry in the writing.
I would suggest any book lover to have a go at this one.

An Exciting New Collection

Being a fan of twist-in-the-tale short stories myself, I was keen to check out this new book and I must say, I wasn't disappointed at all. The story lines are diverse and interesting, the writing style is refreshing; overall a great debut effort.
