    The Curse of Surya

I'm extremely amazed by this book......All the mysteries and unanswered questions around the Shyamantaka was put together to make amazing thriller story, and I liked it a lot! I'd love to read more books like this, by taking mysteries around a certain thing and making a story around it is absolutely wonderful and required a lot of thinking and creativity. I personally liked the cliffhangers which persuaded me to just keep on reading and not stop. well written and awesome book!!!

    Fast paced and gripping

The words – Fast paced and gripping – mentioned in the summary at the back of this book were good enough for me to start reading this book. And also when a book revolves around something related to India it definitely increases the excitement in me to read it. After reading I can definitely say that it’s a thriller with Indian mythology involved and makes you want to read more and finish it.
The story has defined characters of 3 main people who are from different backgrounds and different pa...

    A good, easy read

I recently got a chance to read The Curse of Surya by Dev Prasad while on my birthday trip. This book is what one might call a mythological mystery set in modern times, a-la The Da Vinci Code or Chanakya’s Chant.

This book is set in locations inhabited by Krishna during his era (Mathura, Dwarka etc.) and focuses around a jewel called the Shyamantaka that was lost during Krishna’s times. What powers does the jewel hold, who all are the interested stakeholders in this jewel, what transpires be...

    India's answer to Dan Brown

The Curse of Surya is a pacy page-turner. A thriller based on Indian mythology, this book is about the quest for Shyamantaka - a priceless jewel that was lost for 5000 years. The narrative is crisp, language lucid and very well-researched. The factoids, information capsules about Mathura-Agra-Vrindavan region of UP and Hindu mythology will surely excite you.

The author has followed the Dan Brown format of writing. His protagonist Sangeeta has shades of the leading girls of Sydney Sheldon nov...

Fast-paced, exciting thriller with Indian mythology at its heart and soul!

I enjoyed this book VERY much. Was it perfect? No. Did it have some logical inconsistencies? Yes. But I have not read such a well-executed mythological thriller from a contemporary Indian author in a LONG time. Dev Prasad's The Curse of Surya is a fast-paced, extremely exciting story of a frantic hunt for the Syamantaka, the famed jewel of the Sun God which can make its possessors immeasurably rich. The book features gutsy journalist Sangeeta Rao, and a charming but mysterious foreigner Alan ...

"The Curse of Surya" is a good "light read"

I started reading "The Curse of Surya" on Thursday and found myself drawn into the legends shown in the book. I finished the book at a stretch on Saturday morning. In a nutshell, the book is a treasure hunt, but that would be oversimplifying it. This is the Indian equivalent of "The Da Vinci Code". The book provides insight into the lesser known legends of Hindu mythology. When the scene shifts to Dwarka, it brought back memories of my vacation there. The book is a good "light read" and I rec...

    Racy

A mystery novel without any over the top details but solid storyline. Yes, that's what The Curse Of Surya is all about. The characters are well defined and have a specific role to play. Sangeeta has been portrayed as an intelligent yet romantic lady. Alan too is brilliant. The book has a gripping start which other mystery ovels fail to deliver. It keeps you hooked. A book one can pacefully finish from start to end without having to keep a tab at unneceesary details. The author leaves bits and...

Indian DAN BROWN - Awesome Thriller ! Hollywood Movie style !

“The Curse of Surya” is a fantastic thriller – he is definitely the Indian DAN BROWN – as stated by many people here. This is a very fast past thriller with lots of Hindu Religion and Indian History. I appreciate the amazing research done by the author that makes the places appear so authentic. I just could not make out what is fiction and what is fact. Also loved the strong women characters – Sangeeta Rao and Nisha Sharma. Hope this is made into a Hollywood or Bollywood movie soon. Like Indi...
