Synopsis and Features
War has been accused of destroying the entire mankind. Being his brother and one among the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Death doesn’t believe it. Death is committed to the cause of clearing out his brother’s name and restoring humanity. The quest he is on is not only dangerous, but also outright impossible. Will Death succeed in making good on his promise or will he suffer defeat and lose his brother once and for all? Darksiders II has answers to all these questions and more.
Developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ, Darksiders II has many new features that make it an interesting game. The hardware specifications required to play the game smoothly on your computer are Windows XP, an online steam account, a 2.0 Ghz Intel Core2Duo or AMD equivalent processor, 20 GB of free hard disk space (additional 10 GB free space is required after installation), 2 GB RAM and a 512 MB RAM equipped NVidia 9800 GT or ATI Radeon processor.
The single-player campaign in the game will introduce you to primary and secondary weapons, allowing you to destroy your enemies into a million pieces. The graphics in the game have been created with utmost precision to deliver you a dark and fearful environment. You will be holding your breath every time when you peek around a corner, as Darksiders II’s world is infested with all kinds of demonic creatures.
Killing your enemies will earn you coins, armor and different types of weapons. You can pick these up or sell them to a merchant or lose them and upgrade to better equipment. The upgraded equipment is possessed with various souls, making it stronger. You can even customize the equipment to match your requirements. With several types of armor and weapons to unlock, Darksiders II provides various options to upgrade your character.
One of the best things in the game is that it allows you to explore its world with a pace that you are comfortable with. The game doesn’t hurry you to end it; rather it lets you take the decision on how to finish it. You can raid several chests that hide valuables such as pauldrons and cloaks. Every dungeon you enter in the game is interesting as you have to solve a puzzle to get out of it. You can do this by figuring out where bombs are hidden, scaling walls and by pulling several levers.
You can extend your wall runs by using a phantom grapple hook. You can split yourself, allowing you to create multiple forms of your character to distract your enemies. While playing the game you can even travel through time and teleport to different ravines by using fire portals. Following the role-playing element of the game, Darksiders II’s combat skills are divided into two categories. These include summoning creatures at will and executing powerful offensive moves.
The combat is fun and engaging as you have various moves to stun your enemies. Using different weapons you can create various attack patterns to slow down your enemies. Bosses in the game are intelligent and cunning, so you have to be smart in your thinking to defeat them. The updates, DLCs, wallpapers and other content for the game can be downloaded directly from the company’s website.

I wont Bore you with what the story is and all that...We all know that right if we are here :)..I would rather pen down what i feel of the game ;)
COMBAT:: Combat is fluid, much better than what it was in DARKSIDERS.Death is a lot agile and one can feel the metamorphosis right from the word GO.No serious complaints in this department.Though at times the games feels like a hack & slash game but then which RPG(SORT OF) doesnt ?? ;)
RPG ELEMENTS:: In the first edition of the game WAR was not customizable and one ends up with almost the same guy with which one started. Here,we have been provided with the option of customization, which has really improved the game experience. There are skill trees (Harbinger/necromancer) very much like what we have in Borderlands where we can thwart DEATH's Power's & abilities much to the liking of RPG lovers.
There's also a LOOT system in the game which always keeps you on the edge and expecting more as to what could be your next potential inimitable weapon.... :)
Story: wont spoil it for you guys, but trust me even the story has evolved from the previous edition.Engaging storyline i must say.
GameLength :: Clocks between somewhere around 20 hours(main camp)Add some5-8 hours for additional side quests and all....Side quests are also very scintillating & engrossing.
In the era of 5-6 hours shooters(read battlefield/COD) a camp. around 25 hours long is a nice addition.
Dungeons/Enemies/boss-fights:: Everything is well crafted in this game.ART-WORK is excellent. You start off with some simple puzzles but later on in the game, puzzles are challenging & provide a decent exercise to your grey cells.Bosses are not that uncommon.u might find yourself fighting bosses every HALF HOUR. :)
Miscellaneous:: Of course there are glitches in the game, but personally i didnt encountered any in the XBOX360 version.u might get stuck in environment and maybe forced to restart from the last saved check point.Nothing as such which forces you to restart the game(atleast for me).
Graphics :: This is one area where THQ could have done better.Graphics looks a bit outdated but that should be a big issue i guess.Lighting of the game is magnificent and everything looks beautiful though the resolution/frame rate might be an issue.
Verdict:: Dont trust IGN/GAMESPOT's grading system. Its even more flawed that our education system's grading system is ;) If you are an Action adventure RPG lover, try this and i bet my ass u wont be disappointed.Embrace the DEATH this Monsoon !!!! ;)
As the reviews say its a gem of a game :D
Everything is awesome except for the outdated graphics...
by far the witcher 2 enhanced edition is the killer graphics game of 2012....
the difference of DSI to DSII is like ac1 to ac2...now that explain about it already..
the art department needs a medal!!!!! i was stunned by the looks of the worlds and even the map details....
the best part is that you can exit a dungeon any time or if you get bored of puzzles and roaming enter the crucible and have fun :D
game-play,storyline,customization,art design = 10
graphics = 7 SERIOUSLY OUTDATED!!!! (blurry shadows)
i give the game 8.5/10
if it had better graphics 9/10..
awesome game. Hope all buy it. Death rocks, so do the story and the artwork, and the characters are also awesome. go for it. wonderful game by Vigil, hope they make Darksiders III as well. Even if they don't, I'm sure there's a lot of DLCs to help us keep playing this game.
The sequel to the first Darksiders doesn't begin where it left off but takes place during War's 100 year imprisonment.
For starters, The game is a CONSOLE PORT. Although Vigil implied that there will be a PC version, It's more or less a port that runs and looks like 360p feces riddled with bugs and has bad, clunky movement for keyboard and mouse users as the camera is all over the place. Vigil has promised to release patches in the upcoming months and has already released two as of today.
With that said, The gameplay is smooth and combat is much more faster and unforgiving. It's easy to get into but hard to master. Death can amass vast array of armour and weaponry that includes elemental, possessed, heavy and light weapons that are dropped when you defeat bosses and or enemies through out the world.
A semi open world environment with RPG elements has a lot going for the game and clocks in about 20-40 hours with all the side quests. It also has a crucible mode where you fight 100 waves of monsters and get rewarded with epic gear to help you through the game. It also has a New game+ mode and a nightmare mode where you can start off with your character's gear intact.
Darksiders 2 already has 3 planned DLCs for the future. Like saints row 3, it's a DLC monster that's going to spew out DLCs every so often.
Bad visuals and porting aside, It's a good game that sucks you in for a great experience.
I think the game is great, except for a few things. With what the above poster said the FOV is horrible in some places. You can change your graphics resolution but that was fine with me but I guess other people want more. Looked great on my machine and never gave me one problem getting it going either. So maybe a patch down the road will fix some of this. But as for me I will still continue to play. The game is really good so far. Ive got about 6 hours under my belt and I'll say the puzzles are good and the combat is great. You can now get random trash loot which can be sold to vendors for credits to buy more better equipment/weapons. Boss's drop good items as well. You can rebind your keys. On the main game website the devs has posted on how to do it. Yes the game looks great. Its a really good hack and slash with puzzles and big demons to kill. Also, who wouldn't want to play Death?
My only Con I'll have to grip about is the FOV/camera.
