Data Structures And Algorithms Made Easy takes a practical approach to the subject so that readers easily understand and apply the concepts in solving problems.
Summary Of The Book
Data Structures and Algorithms are important parts of courses in computer science. They form the fundamental building blocks of developing logical solutions to problems. They help in creating efficient programs that perform tasks optimally. Data Structure refers to the principles of storing and organizing data. Algorithm is the set of logical steps involved in solving a problem.
Data Structures And Algorithms Made Easy defines these two concepts for the benefit of students and professionals in the computer science field. Rather than focusing on the various theories and models, this book provides practical examples.
It focuses on giving solutions for complex problems in data structures and algorithm. It even provides multiple solutions for a single problem, thus familiarizing readers with different possible approaches to the same situation.
Divided into 21 chapters, the book comprehensively covers the topics required for a thorough understanding of the subjects. It focuses on concepts like Linked Lists, Hashing, Algorithm Design Techniques, Dynamic Programming and Symbol Tables.
The author suggests that readers should first complete the first chapter before proceeding. This is because, in the first chapter, he has discussed various complexities and the situations in which they may arise. Once the reader is familiar with these, it is easier for them as the rest of the book contains frequent references to these concepts.
Data Structures And Algorithms Made Easy is designed to give a jumpstart to programmers, job hunters and those who are appearing for exams. All the codes in this book are in C/C++. It contains many programming puzzles that not only encourage analytical thinking, but also prepares readers for interviews. This book, with its focused and practical approach, can help readers quickly pick up the concepts and techniques for developing efficient and effective solutions to problems.

The book that stops your search for a good book for Data StructuresFor the past few months, I have been searching for a book that covers all the standard problems in Data Structures and to my fortune I found this one. Every chapter starts with the basic elements of that particular data structure and then the implementation and finally all the typical problems that are usually asked in the placement sessions are solved so meticulously.

Good problem solvingOne thing I liked about this book that after a problem is served, it tries to attempt to solve that in basic way and after analyzing it's performance then keeps on improvising the algorithm by providing better solution.

A good resource for arithmetic tricksMost of the stuff in this book, usually also more updated, is of course available on the web. This book also *explains* the tricks very clearly. That's why it rocks. Author doesn't talk to you like a professor, but like a good friend. He explains stuff, often in plain English, the way we all do when we really want someone to understand what we mean.

Written in very simple English and easy to understand for studentsI am a lecturer at one of the rural Engineering college in Karnataka. I generally do not come online and spend much time. After reading the book, I thought it would be good if I share my comments about this.

Really useful for people like me.I bought this book for my Data Structures class at Pune University and it was perfect. There are lot of real world examples it shows the straight forward way of showing us want the data structures are and how to code them efficiently. There's also a lot of extra theory in the sorting chapters that I haven't found in other data structure books.

Useful for both novice and professionals preparing for tech interviewsThe book focuses on DS and Algos part of technical interview. It exposes you to all the questions that the interviewers would expect you to know. The book does provide the implementation code for all data structures, you can do them on your own style as well. Some questions during the interview come straight from it. Others are very similar. Once you study this book, you will be fully prepared to handle any questions on the interview.

Good collection of questionsI got this book on 10th of Jan. Earlier, I used to follow many blogs, sites to prepare for interviews. This is has nice collection of all those problems. In the stacks chapter (Misc.) I found a typo: it was mentioned wrongly. The code was correct but the description is given wrongly.

Complete reference for both Coding and theoryDuring my campus interviews I got in CSC company. During my campus preparation I did not notice this book. Around 2 months back, I saw this book with friend and borrowed it for 2 days and felt like it is the perfect book for campus preparation for people like me. I have studied algorithms using several books, and this is by far the best. I am sure this going to be one of the best books on algos and interview preparations.

It is a like Virtual Teacher for meI ordered this book along with other books for preparing my job searches. Earlier, I thought of taking a coaching on DS and Algorithms for trying Google, Amazon and Yahoo. But after reading few chapters of this book, I felt like, saved lot of money on as it would cost at least 20,000 rupees in Bangalore.
