Dead On The Fourth

Karen Kelly is a registered nurse currently working at a private psychiatric hospital on the dual diagnosis unit, which treats patients who have a chemical dependency and a mental illness. One of the patients she was barely involved in treating is found dead from a drug overdose shortly after his release from the hospital. She thinks more should have been done to help this man, Joshua Lambert, prior to his release. As she investigates and tries to find the reasons he was released earlier than normal, Karen finds dangerous problems at the hospital. During her search, Karen makes an enemy of Dr. Dan Conrad and is suspended. In trying to clear her name and regain her job, Karen learns Joshua abused alcohol, but had a fanatical resentment towards drug use. She unwillingly is helped by Detective George Walters and they compare notes on a regular basis to piece together a picture of fraud, drug abuse, and murder.
