The Decision Book: Fifty Models For Strategic Thinking brings together some of the greatest models that structure reality and enhance strategic decision making.

    Summary Of The Book

Ever wondered why people smoke even when they know it is unhealthy? Or what is it that one believes about things they cannot prove? The Decision Book: Fifty Models For Strategic Thinking has answers to all these questions and more.

Through a selection of models from around the world, this book provides explanations to some of the most intriguing everyday phenomenon. It has covered topics ranging from the Swiss Cheese Model on the causes of mistakes to the Pareto Principle on input-output correlation, from Johari Window that reveals what others know about people to the Maslow Pyramids that define the thin line between needing and wanting.

Taken from a diverse mix of subjects, including economics, psychology, and sociology, these models improve one’s judgment and help people take better decisions in life. Many of them are taught to students of business management as they help structure the chaos of everyday life and make the decision-making process more accurate. A unique diagrammatic approach is introduced in the book for readers to apply the learnings in their own environment and become better decision makers.

Awesome Book, Delivered at a great Price by Flipkart

To begin with, this is my first book of this genre. I generally try to avoid these books because they get too preachy and start telling you what to do and what not to do. But interestingly, this book uses some mathematical models to simplify daily issue and gives a comprehensive and lucid way to planning your thoughts and actions. The price in which Flipkart is selling is the cheapest in the market and it was delivered to me in 2 days. So Woo-Hoo! I am impressed!

    Useful Material but Lacks Depth

This book has a collection of strategic models which can be useful. One think i liked about this book is that it has a work book style. I mean it actually asks you to engage. But it doesn't have enough material to read about every topic. Information is very superficial and models are explained in just one or two paragraphs. If it had little more depth to it, it would have been a great book but it good nonetheless.

    Decent - not too substantive

Please read as 3.5 stars. This book is page after page of frameworks. As an MBA from a decent school, I was surprised by only a few of them, most were known or were too obvious. That said, it can be quite useful to flip through as a reference. Or to explore at leisure. Must say I do NOT use it too often
