Dell Backup Plus 1TB USB 3.0 Portable hard drive

Bought this through Computer Warehouse in Bangalore about 4 days ago on Saturday. Sunday start transferring stuff from comp which has usb 2.0 only. Copy initially stared at 30 then within couple of minutes went down to 1. Then on laptop with usb 3.0 transfer starts at 60 then slowing went down to 10~15.

I thought being DELL it would be good. But this is abysmal.Wanted a refund, Computer Warehouse doesn't do refund and dell wont do since I didn't buy it from them.

Please don't buy this product. Buy a WD passport, it functions way a 1TB usb3.0 hd is supposed to perform.

thumbs down for Computer Warehouse for no return policy and BIG thumbs down to DELL for making the worst product of the decade and cheating their customer. I would have given 0 rating but unfortunately I have to give 1

used it on my pc (core i5 2500k , dz68db motherboard, 2gb ram, 3.0 usb)
i faced the same problem as mentioned by siddharth shekar before me
the speed was just 30mb/s,
but when i disabled the windows aero functions, the speed increased to 90mb/s.
probably because of just 2gb ram

but this hdd rocks

Pros:- slim, fits in single hand weighs just approx 50 gm more than mobile you carry, compact

usb 2.0 & 3.0 compatible...

I had ordered this DELL 1TB HDD (Black) from Flipkart & as always the delivery was on time. Infact a day before the expected date mentioned & I am happy to receive it earlier with COD. It was well packed & sealed box along with the flipkart bill invoice. Inspite of raining at the time of delivery, my HDD was delivered well packed & without any damage. Really appreciate flipkart for its delivery service.

Dell HDD 1Tb has USB 3.0 & it also works on USB 2.0 as its having the same USB plug. So can use with any laptop or desktop. You need not format it as it is ready to use.The speed on USB 2.0 for reading & writing was 30 & 25 Mbps resp for movies & large files. But the speeds on USB 3.0 are just amazingly jet fast. I have copied around 500Gbs of Data in a single transfer & without any problem. Its manufactured by Seagate technology & its hardware inside. Shows 931Gb of free space on Windows 7 as NTFS file system.

It is silent & really sleek, easy to carry but would recommend to buy a safety pouch in case you drop it. No heating at all even after using the whole day continously. The best thing about it is, that at 5K this is the best HDD to go for. I had choose this as I am having a Dell inspiron laptop & it shows as an internal HDD & gets detected instantly.

But even if You have any other laptop it will work as good as with Dell. i would recommend all to go for this HDD. Completely satisfied with the product & Flipkart. Thanks.

Received it last day. Got this Hard Drive for 3870 RS in kolkata location within 2 days from flipkart. :) Delivery is always good by Flipkart.

About Product : Tested it with my Pentium D 3.06 GHz, 2 GB RAM, FSB 533, Windows XP SP3.

I copied file (Music, Video, Images, PDF) using Tera Copy Pro and got an average writing speed of 25 MB. Speed varies to 31Mbps. Till now not read anything from Hard Drive. I have used this hard drive on USB 2.0 port.

Not yet tested in USB 3.0 port. Those who are having new systems will get much more speed in 3.0 port (Which is the blue color USB port).

You can detach its head where the LED is located. Still now do not know the use of its internal ports. It looks like sata ports present in the back side of internal hard drive.
