See,
If you are the one to select between Lenovo, HP and Dell...and budget is aroung 30-31,000 INR... Dell Vostro 1550 alone..or combo deal...both are at a loss...
If compared with HP 2000-2202TU, Dell 1500 loses out on :
1. Price - HP2000-2202TU- Rs.31252 @Flipkart, Dell 1550 with Linux- Rs.27,886, with Win7 Home Basic-Rs.31,672, Combo of Linux+ Win8 UPGRADE pack(not Full OS) Rs.31,194. If you buy a Win 8 OS full,it is around Rs.6000 (Rs.2000 Win 8 deal is only for upgrade).
So, All Dell models will land up costlier than HP
2. i3 2nd Gen, seems same at first, but Dell has 2310M processor 2.1GHz and Intel HM65 Express Chipset. HP has, in comparison, 2328M processor 2.2GHz and Intel HM75 Express Chipset...both processor and MB are better in HP.
3. Dell 1550 has both memory slots USED. No free slot to increase RAM. HP has 1 slot occupied and 1 Free to enhance memory.
4. These don't matter much, still, Bluetooth v4 in HP and v3 in Dell. Dell has regular speakers whereas HP has Altec Lansing ( I know it does not matter much, still).
5. HDMI port is not mentioned in Dell 1550, whereas HP 2000-2202 TU has it.
6. HD webcam in HP and 1.3MP in Dell.
I have ordered HP some days ago, after doing my research and after watching Lenovo HP and Dell physically.
One more thing, although here, Dell mentions that All coverage is in warranty, but HP explicitly mentions Accident Damage under warranty, which is another additional PLUS for HP.
I have used many computers, laptops in past. And my analysis and choice was made out from those experiences.
I went to Nehru Place in Delhi to get quotation for an assembled PC. But, getting an Original Windows 8 on that, and inbuilt Bluetooth and Wi-Fi will have been out of my budget (30-31000 was my budget). I did not want Wi-Fi Dongle hanging all the time.
With the quotations from there, it would have been 38000 for Original Win 8 assembled PC. And that would have been a compromise on Mobility.
I redirected myself to Laptops and found this deal as awesome from HP.
This HP2000-2202TU is bought for my cousin studying in Class-11th. And I would want you to reassess your decision to Buy this DELL. Rethink and check out HP instead.
And, if possible, buy an extended warranty for another 2 years, that is, 3 years in all. Its approx 10%, including taxes, of the purchase price.
I hope my own analysis will help you to get your hands on a better product at a better price.
The product is absolutely good and the price was just very good to not to buy. This is the same as Dell Inspiron except the branding for office purpose. I was surprised with the price here as the one quoted by DELL themselves was very high. There is nothing much I would like to say about this but "product for this price is a great deal".
The only thing that I did not like is the outer cover which was a very dull grey and the quality of the plastic did not look great.
DELL IS NOT ACCEPTING THE WARRANTY AGAINST THE ACTUAL DATE OF PURCHASE BY THE USER/CUSTOMER. THEY ONLY HONOUR THE DATE THEY DELIVERED THE LAPTOP TO THE DISTRIBUTOR/DEALER. CHECK THROUGH DELL WEB-SITE ANY THEN BUY AS THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE YOU THE SERVICE BEYOND THE DATE RECORDED IN THEIR SYSTEM.
I have dell vostro 1550. I recommend you never buy dell laptop...they have the worst technical support and customer care service....for the small problem they will lead you to somewhere else and never visit to your place....they say thats not in the warranty......I cannot expect that kind of customer care service from an international brand.....
