IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME The outbreak of the Great War is imminent. In Portsmouth, Eve marries Peter Lloyd, only to find herself deserted with her young child, Penny. Forced to return to her former work in the local department store, Eve finds satisfaction in the millinery trade which eventually leads her to London. Wary of the past she befriends Gerald who helps her find new confidence which will inevitably lead to heartache. A chance meeting takes her back home to Portsmouth, where her life takes another twist. FULL CIRCLE Lizzie, her sister and two brothers, are the children of Michael Parnell, an Irish protestant living in England. His wife, May, has married less well than her family would have wished. Although happy at home, the girls are grateful to a well-to-do maternal aunt who widens their horizons. Lizzie, with the reluctant approval of her parents, is determined to become a dancer. She achieves her ambition shortly before the outbreak of the Great War, and enjoys success as a soloist. In time, her personal life conflicts with her profession, and she is faced with difficult choices.
