It is written by a 13 year old girl (when she started writing). An incredible book depicting different shades of World War-II. It was never written intentionally to get printed because it was a "Diary of a Young Girl" which she received on her 13th birthday and therefore she started writing in it. It contains entries for about 2 years. After the Nazis Occupation when it was announced by Dutch Government to make public the accounts of sufferings. After listening to that announcement on Radio, she dreamed of publishing her diary after war was over and for that she rewrote and edited it many times. But she died before her dream came true.
Of all the multitudes who throughout history have spoken for human dignity in times of great suffering and loss, no voice is more compelling than that of Anne Frank.
It is a world's best seller which is clear from it's publication in about 60 different languages across the world.

This book is a must read for everyone. While we all have heard about the world war II, this book gives a totally new insight into another side of the war. The diary starts before the war begun, and ends abruply days before anne and the residents of the "secret annexe" were arrested. Unfortunately only her father survived but anne still lives in her books.
The diary has quite interesting accounts of the problems and difficulties they faced during the years of their hiding. It also provides a great understanding of what was going through the minds of a teenager. How she changed in the years and coped with the problems that most teenagers never even have to think about.
Anne wanted to be a journalist or famous writer, if only she knew how her wish has been fulfilled.
The diary of Anne Frank takes the reader through 2 years in the life of the franks from 1942 to 1944. This book is not so much an account of the holocaust as it is of the enduring spirit and maturity of this young girl. It takes the reader through everyday events and happenings in the house that the franks were cosseted in to escape the gestapo.
Something i found queer was that the book was interesting, but only when read in short durations. So don't expect to pick up the book and finish it in one go! I did encounter quite many typos in this version of the book toward the end(Mahaveer Publications.) The tradeoff is of course the price. I'd recommend the book.
I brought this book to know about the conditions of jews during world war 2 , but I gotta say , I got more that what i bargained for , this book is simply amazing ! In her diary, Anne Frank recorded vivid impressions of her experiences during WW2,by turns thoughtful , moving and amusing , her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a compelling self portrait of a sensitive and spirited young woman whose promise was tragically cut short .
for dos who r interested in holocaust, its a must..its worth buying n s very touching..its amazing how a little girl managed to write down each n every details of da things which happened inside n outside their hiding place..1 of da best books ever
