This book studies the concept ofwomen empowerment among the tribals. It argues that the tribal social structuresare different from hierarchical caste Hindu structures. In fact, there aremultiple ethnic groups in the country, such as caste, tribe, linguistic andreligious sects and each structural unit has its own identity and thereforeautonomy. It is with this perspective that the present study examines the 73rdConstitutional Amendment, which gives political decentralization to the tribalwomen. What makes the present study a pioneering work is its perspective ofdisempowerment. All through the work, the author argues that tribal womenhave taken caste as their modus of imitation due to long and continuousinteraction provided by Panchayati Raj institutions. Disempowerment obviously isthe process of Hinduising the tribal women and pushing them to Hindufundamentalism which is the root of our present day ethic conflicts.
