Summary of the Book

Danny Torrance is trying all that he can to escape his past. He moves to a small town in New Hampshire and becomes a part of the AA group to help himself with his alcoholism. Danny also uses his powers to assist people pass on, as Doctor Sleep. Yet, when he meets a girl named Abra Stone, who has the brightest shining anyone had ever seen, he discovers that his past is always around him, haunting and troubling him. More to muddle up his life is the existence of the group called the True Knot, which harvests steam brutally from children who have the shining to prolong their quasi-lives. They will do anything to torture Abra Stone. Doctor Sleep is the story of the macabre that is capable of spooking anybody out of their minds.

King graduated from the University of Maine, where he met and married his wife, Tabitha King. He lives in Bangor, Maine. He has also written under the pseudonym of Richard Bachman.
