Don't Lose Your Mind Lose Your Weight discusses the balance needed between overeating and deprivation of meals. The author highlights the misconceptions that people have regarding nutrition and dieting. With interesting incidents and quotes based on her experience, the author tries to help the readers get better insights into the internal workings of the body.

The author, instead of focusing on dieting, focuses on the importance of eating right. Divided into six sections, each part of the book deals with different concepts related to dieting. The book has been written keeping in mind the different ages and body types.

Section 1 of the book discusses the contemporary trends that people are adopting today and how eating can actually help rather than dieting. The following chapter talks about how we can train our stomachs and have a balanced meal. In the last two sections, Rujuta explains how these tips can be put into practice and enlists many steps that can be followed for a better life. The final section of the book is Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor’s journey to fitness and her tips for a slimmer waist.

About Rujuta Diwekar

Rujuta Diwekar is a nutritionist and fitness expert from Mumbai. She has written another book titled Women & The Weight Loss Tamasha. Rujuta pursued a Sports Nutrition course and completed her post graduation from SNDT College. She is the recipient of the Nutrition Award from the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology. She was also on the list of the People magazine's 2012 list of the 50 most powerful people in India. Rutuja enjoys trekking and has a marathon training group. She topped the 'Best Personal Trainer' list in 2005 and has worked with prominent celebrities like Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Anil Ambani and others. She is currently working on her third book. Her books have sold over 500,000 copies and have also been translated into other languages. She is married to Gaurav Punj.

A marvellous book, a way of life!!

At the outset, let me thank all those who have posted their reviews, coz it was after reading these that i purchased the book.

The book seems like a godsend to me, i weighed 85 kg but have reduced to 81 in 2 weeks!

I live alone, work all day and cook for myself. needless to say i am bored in the evenings and the first thing i used to do as soon as i got back from work was reach out for my bag of ready to eat packaged snacks, after which i always felt guilty, then consoled myself by resolving to go on a diet the next day and in the end ordered a big restaurant dinner. Need i say more??

For ten years i had not eaten my favourite breakfast of toast and eggs, i never bought butter, ghee or sweets, yet my weight kept going up.

After reading the book, it is almost as if i have been reborn. i am enjoying my favourite foods, am at peace and am losing weight.

This book is a MUST READ!!

Ive already bought another copy to gift to an overweight friend.

Best book on Eating

Arguably the best book out there on the most basic but neglected aspect of our life: 'Feeding ourselves'. Rujuta has not only shattered all the diet myths through her book but has done it in such a logical way that leaves no trace of doubt in one's mind. Her language is simple and her knowledge exceptional. Her philosophy of 'eat food to lose fat' sounds radical first but by the end of the book it feels like the most natural thing.
As someone who has been grapling with weight loss issues for a long time and having consulted the so called 'expert dieticians' with no results, except losing my confidence, I would heartily recommend this book and its philosophy to everyone: age, sex, fitness levels, no bar.
Through real life examples, cheat sheets, interesting anecdotes etc Rujuta has managed to make the book highly entertaining. Sounds too good to be true? Just grab a copy and read for yourself. Its a must read- if ever there was one.

dont lose ur mind

after a long long search i really could find some book which could satisfy my quench for loosing weight, an excellent book, the wonderful part is the author allows us to have our normal diet which we r used to since ages. quitting my first coffee was and is still a bit difficult for me, but somehow i m getting over this habit too, following all the instructions is not yet totally possible, but i think a step every time is a good effort, whatdya say? apart from everything, the author being a puneite, i found her much more closer to my heart. she has explained wonderfully the role of each of the food type making it easy for a layman to understand food and its significant role in our life, i myself have made a few notes about the book, the diet to be followed, the food items to be included as well as excluded and whats more a have started walking on the path of good health with her tips, i have also zeroxed my notes and started circulating them amongst my healthy (over) friends, thnx for the good book , dear author keep it up, good wishes for more good books and good luc to me for losing my weight.

WEIGHTY ISSUES ?

Don't Lose your mind, Lose your weight by Rujuta Diwekar, the one behind Kareena Kapoor's marvellous figure is a refreshing read.
Unlike preachy, regimental, tough and curtail some diets, the book offers realistic measures that can be adopted in order to stay healthy and fit. Don't count the calories, count whether you're fit is what the author vouches for.
Narrating her interactions with different clients and people from all walks of life, she subtly conveys the message of how to eat right.
The book explores the fad behind crash diets, disadvantages of having Sugarfree, eating in a relaxed manner, eating whole fruits - not cutting them retains their nutrients, eating according to one's genes and eating local produce and seasonal food.
I was thrilled to read that having Paneer parantha is better than having Pizza. Rujuta also warns that people lost not only their weight to Atkins diet, but also their health.
She suggests eating everything (which is what I love about this book), but at the right time, right quantity and at the right intervals. Indulge in sweets once a week(don't eat them with a meal though !), have home-made pakoras once a month(immediately after frying ),she says.
She explains thru examples that processed food is harmful as it contains Transfats. I was dumbstruck when I read that including nuts, cheese and other dairy products in your daily diet is good for your health.
Sticking to cooking in your mother's Iron pot, kadhai or tawa is good as adds Iron to your body. Sources of different Vitamins and their importance are mentioned in an interesting manner. Take for instance, Vitamin A supports our immune system and helps prevent cancer, Vitamin E protects the heart, Vitamin K helps in building healthy bones, Vitamin C is an antioxidant and Vitamin B helps metabolise Carbohydrates, aids digestion, improves nerve function and prevents Depression.
Avoid waking up to Tea/Coffee, eat small meals frequently and eat dinner 2 hours before you sleep are her primary tips to the health-conscious person. Exercise at least 3 hours a week and remember that "Exercise is a way to improve fitness, blood circulation and to love the body."
The book is well-structured, livened up with examples, diet charts, tips and much much more. So, go grab your copy too !! (or one for your partner !!)
This book was gifted to me by my hubby and has made more aware of how to eat right and exercise regularly. Thanks Vikash (my hubby) and thanks Rujuta for coming up with such an interesting book !!

Truly a Diet Bible.Alters your perception of dieting not the food.

This book is all about altering your thinking about Dieting, and it works.
This is not a ordinary diet book where they throw on you a diet chart ,asks you to follow and loose weight. That never works,because our culture is so diverse,what people eat daily changes every 100 kms,so a Mumbaikar making a diet chart will not work for guy living in Meerut,U.P. He might be able to survive for a week or two but thats it then his genes will take over and he'll end up eating ghar ka bana mummy ke haath ka khana(in our families the amount of love is shown by the amount of ghee/chaunk/oil in our food).
So what Rujuta does is,tell us,how does your digestion work,a few tips (a lot actually) and her 4 principles of eating,gives us a few ideas what should we prefer to eat (I hope there were some more) and even lets us eat Samosas,Gulab Jamun,Parathas,Pizza etc(No this is not a typo,this is actually a part of your diet),
the only thing what changes is WHEN you eat. She just alters our When,and asks us to eat everything including Cheese.

For 119 bucks I would definitely recommend this. Now that you have tried (and failed) all the dietings known to mankind,just spend another 100 bucks and give this a shot.

My final Verdict- Game Changer.
