  • Description

This book looks into the art of drawing, and effectively teaches kids how to go about it.

    Summary Of The Book

Draw it!: How To Draw Elephants, Dinosaurs, Cars and Stuff gives step-by-step instructions for drawing several kinds of animals and other figures. The book starts by listing all the drawing materials needed, like pencils, types of papers, sketching pad, eraser, and sharpeners.

It then goes on to show young kids how draw complex figures using basic shapes like circles, and ovals. The drawing begins as a combination of circles and other simple shapes and at each step, it become more and more recognizable as the intended figure.

Each figure is developed in around eight panels. Step-by-step, the author shows kids how to add each feature and by the penultimate panel, the figure is fully drawn. The eighth panel shows the kids how to use pencil shading to bring out the color and marking. The figures are all in back and white.

As an illustration, the elephant starts out as a couple of overlapping circles, one big and one small. Then comes the ears and tails, the eyes and eyebrows, the trunk, etc. The animal begins to take shape, plainly recognizable. In the final stages, the unwanted portions of the circles are erased. The last panel shows the elephant shaded gray.

It is a fun and easy way for kids to learn how to draw various figures. Subjects chosen for the lessons, like animals, cars and houses, make it even more interesting for kids.

    Highly Recommended

This book is too good for beginners especially to learn the basics of drawing. I do not have any skill of drawing and my 3.5 yr old son loves to draw and wanted me to teach him car and jeep. This book simply helped me achieve the same and the results were stunning and very motivating mentally. All beginners should try this one. :) Very good artist and author.
