In this murder mystery by Agatha Christie, Hercule Poirot receives a letter from a woman, who mysterious turns up dead. And the only one who may be able to catch her killer is her dog, the Dumb Witness.

    Summary of the Book

When Emily Arundell, a wealthy spinster, falls to her death down a staircase, her greedy relatives attribute her death to a ball left around by her pet fox terrier, Bob. Her companion, Miss Lawson, becomes the unexpected heir to her estates, and the matter is assumed closed. Howeer, detective extraordinaire and grey-cells expert Hercule Poirot receives a letter Emily had written shortly before her death, and in it she tells him that she thinks someone has been trying to kill her. The letter reaches Poirot late and Emily is already dead. But something like that can barely dissuade the sleauth from tackling the case. In fact, it might be just the distraction Poirot is searching for.

    A Good Read

I loved that the story involved a 'dumb' witness. The plot is fresh and the story flows well. Normally, I prefer Poirot's adventures in Christie's works and this has been quite a good read as was expected. Also, since I got it when there was a good discount going on, it was a steal :)

Dumb Witness by Agatha Christie is not DUMB

A somewhat unconventional Hercule Poirot mystery where the letter inviting intervention reaches after the person is dead. The clues present are also very unconventional -- a dog's ball, a nail on the wall, a picture on a jar, and a picture that is "ajar". Did the person die or was she killed? The question is not clearly answered. Yet, Poirot, with Hasting and his old Austin, surmounts all odds and finds the perpetrator.
A must read for all fans of Christie...

    Typical Agatha Christie !!!

This will keep you hooked for sure. 90% of book is fun. Climax is not very exciting but then don't worry much about destination, journey is indeed very fulfilling. Again does not matches up to the standards of 'The Murder on Orient Express' or 'Hercule Poirot's Christmas' but still 4/5 it is.

    Just wow!

This Agatha Christie book happens to be one of my favorites. This is the only book where the murder has been committed and the only one who knows and says it's murder is Hercule Poirot. There is no body ,and no crime scene to investigate.Only circumstances and suspects. How Poirot finds the murderer is a thing to read so enjoy
