The Dying Friends

The Dying Friends, a book inspired by letters written from one man to another who is dying of cancer, is based on life's beliefs and death's understanding. John's disturbing letters sent to Ryan begin with, "You do not know me, but I know something of you." He goes on to advise Ryan that he is misinformed about life's most important knowledge. Ryan, perplexed by the letters, takes little notice of John's urgent and strangely arrogant plea. Refusing to come to terms with his mortality, he tells John, in so many words, that he's a lunatic. However, Ryan eventually learns, to his discomfort, that John knows more about him than he thought possible. The Dying Friends is about two men with opposing opinions. Just as a breeze first stirs a leaf, then a branch, then a tree; we often find a small sliver of thought changes the world -- our world.
