East-west Arms Control: Challenges For The Western Alliance

The INF treaty signed between the United States and the Soviet Union in December 1987 is a milestone in the history of East-West arms relations. The profound changes which occurred within Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union during the closing years of the 1980s had direct links with equivalent changes in the East-West political environment.
