Eat, Pray, Love (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.518

This is the story of the author’s life, her search to find some meaning, and the journey she embarks on to discover herself.

Elizabeth Gilbert, at thirty-two, had everything that would make life perfect, a successful career as a writer, a husband, and a house. At least, that was the way it appeared to others. But, she was unhappy and her marriage was not working.

After a messy divorce, she entered into a relationship with someone else, but that did not work out either. Gilbert then decided that she needed a break to sort out her life, and so, she spent the next year traveling around the world.

She spent four months in Italy, four months in India and finally, she spent the next four months in Indonesia. Each leg of the journey was devoted to a different experience and exploring a different aspect of life.

In Italy, she indulged herself in the pleasures of food and exploration of the country. In India, she plunged into a journey of spiritual discovery. After this, she went to Bali and discovered love.

In the preface, the author states that she has arranged the book like the Indian string of prayer beads, the japamala. The japamala traditionally has 108 beads in the string. The book has a total of 108 stories divided equally for the time that she spent in the three countries.

About the Author
Elizabeth Gilbert is an American writer and a freelance journalist. She was born in 1969 in Waterbury, Connecticut. She grew up in a small Christmas tree farm, which was isolated, with no neighbors, no access to television, or any other form of entertainment, except for books. So, she and her sister read a lot and wrote stories and plays to entertain themselves.

Gilbert graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from New York University. After working as a cook, magazine employee, and a waitress, she turned to writing.

She wrote for various leading magazines like GQ, SPIN, The New York Times Magazine, and Travel and Leisure. Her first short story collection, titled Pilgrims, was published in 1997 and earned her the Pushcart Prize and was nominated for the PEN/Hemingway Award.

Some of her other books are, Committed: A Love Story, Stern Men, and A Writer's Workbook: Daily Exercises for the Writing Life.

Its a vacation reading it

Read the book back in 2006. It is the most well written vivid book I have read. I felt like I had gone through Italy and other places myself as I was reading it :)
Nice, uplifts your mood

The final destination is Indonesia where the author finds that the catharsis and healing has allowed her to find love, that is unconditional.Great read, the style is very conversational. Looking forward for the author's next book commitment.

even for the cynic

I saw the movie first and honestly didnt think too much of it.. it was an nice enough.
I then read Gilbert's book Committed which she wrote after the mega success of eat, pray, love.. which made me want to read this book.. and Im glad i did.
I loved the book!! I guess all women would..
I tried unsuccessfully to persuade my cynical guy friends to read it, promising it would be better than the movie.
Gilbert 's writing is so fresh, funny and honest and that is what makes this book such a pleasurble read. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an honest point of veiw about someone on what...

It may not neccessarily work for all, but this memoir is definitely worth reading..

Splendid book to read.. ! ! !

First of all let me confess that am a novel-o-holic. Reading novels has always been my passion so am very selective in selecting and reading a novel.

I watched eat, pray, love and ofcourse i liked the movie. But there was something, I felt, was missing in the movie and was sure that the missing link could be found by reading the book and I was right. So many delicate points were conveniently missed in the movie. Such a delicately written novel this is (Or should I call it a biography of Elizabeth Gilbert). Am an addict of this book now.

Eat, Pray, Love - a stirring slice of life

A heartwarming book - one that produces a warm glow inside you and has the ability to make you look at life in a completely new way and gives you a new lease on life.

Elizabeth Gilbert is an astonishing raconteur and the way she weaves her tale about finding harmony like a japa mala is simply splendid.

Her experiences - whether it's on the streets of Rome or in an ashram in rural India or in the rustic beauty of Bali - make for a compelling read and the people she meets on her journey all play a part in making the book a rather coercive read.

This book is not just a book - it's a stirrin...

Pure love!

Well, even if you're not spiritual, but feel a tiny inclination to see wonder and purpose in everyday things, this is your book. It approaches self-doubt and self-discovery from a very relatable perspective.
The read doesn't feel long at all, though you may want some time to reflect on what you r...
