Summary of the Book
At thirty-two, Elizabeth had everything she could ever ask for – a successful career as a writer, a house, and a husband. At least, that’s how it looked for the others from the outside. But she was extremely unhappy and was always in search of something, especially when her marriage failed to function well. After a nasty divorce and a few days of turmoil later, she spent a few months in Italy, India and Indonesia. Her time in different countries made her explore different aspects of life. She indulged herself in the delights of food and discovering the countries, and eventually her journey enabled her to find love and a deep spiritual experience. Elizabeth’s story has been made into a major motion picture, starring Julia Roberts. The book had remained on The New York Times best-sellers list for 187 weeks!
About Elizabeth Gilbert
Elizabeth Gilbert is an American author, short story writer, novelist, biographer, essayist and memoirist. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from New York University. Some of her other literary works are Pilgrims, The Signature of All Things, Stern Men, The Last American Man, and Committed.

Nice, uplifts your mood
Read the book back in 2006. It is the most well written vivid book I have read. I felt like I had gone through Italy and other places myself as I was reading it :)

I then read Gilbert's book Committed which she wrote after the mega success of eat, pray, love.. which made me want to read this book.. and Im glad i did.
I loved the book!! I guess all women would..
I tried unsuccessfully to persuade my cynical guy friends to read it, promising it would be better than the movie.
