Economic Liberation And Indian’s Foreign Policy

The immediate challenge before the Congres government constituted in 1991 was to overcome the severe economic crises and direct the economy towards a sustained growth. Accelerating economic growth through liberalisation and globalisation necessitated not only dismantling the stringent rules and regulations but also inviting foreign capital and technology. It also meant restructuring its trade regime to prepare the economy for greater integration with the global economy.

Dr. Cahn Wahn Kim is a lecturer, teaching at the Hankuk University of Foreign, Studies in Korea. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree by the University of Delhi. Having specialized in South Asian studies in general and Indian area studies in particular, he has published many articles on these subjects. He is a co-author of several books and the author of Ten Years of Economic Reforms in India: Achievements and the Task Ahead.
