These are some of the questions that Small Finger, the only surviving child from the massive deportation of the cheroqui nation, asks to the old White Eagle. While the atrocious genocide perpetrated by the army of the United States is still without an answer, the doubts of Small Finger dispel little by little in the poetry and melancholy of this stirring story. The path of tears wants to make accessible to children the reality of death, a taboo subject in the western culture. At the same time, it describes the charming thoughts of the American native cultures.
