This largely revised and updated second edition of the text builds on the strength of the previous edition. It gives a systematic and clear exposition of the fundamental principles of solid state physics. The text covers topics such as crystal structure and chemical bonds, semiconductors, dielectrics, magnetic materials, and superconductors.
