The Emperor’s Writings: Memoirs of Akbar the Great is a fictional autobiography of Akbar the Mughal Emperor.

    Summary of the Book

At the age of 13, a young boy rose to the throne Humayun left behind, inheriting one of the largest empires of the time.  He was guided by worthy teachers, and he learnt about statecraft and strategies from them. Eventually, he developed a centralised system of administration throughout the kingdom and began to absorb other city-states through marriage. For his guile and military prowess, he was called Shahanshah, the King of Kings. His court was the high seat of art, science and literature at the time. He gathered the best writers, artists, calligraphers and bookbinders to build a library of over 24,000 volumes. Despite the fact that several of his poets wrote about him, he never followed his ancestors’ footsteps in writing his own story. This is the autobiography Akbar the Great never wrote.

Good book but readers should keep track when it meanders into fiction

Good and well written book no doubt.

Perhaps so well written that even a seasoned reader of history will not be able to discern which page has departed from history and how steeped it is in fiction.

This is evident because even some of the reviewers on this site seem to be unaware that this book is not a historically faithful representation of Akbar's life which to be honest the writer has not laid claim to but is only closely based on it.

In fact the writer takes historical facts as a f...

    Excellent book

Indian's generally have the tendency to view Akbar as an benevolent ruler and a strict father courtesy CBSE history books and movies Jodha-akbar and Mughsl-e-azam...this book shows absolutely new facets of Akbar the ruler as an imperialist, dyslexic ,sex addict..Akbar's life seems similar to his grandfather Babur who also became king at a young age held onto power chiefly because of loyal servants of his father...in today's terminology Akbar was the MAN..Richest man on earth....one of the mo...
