Empire of the Moghul: The Tainted Throne (Hardcover) Price: Rs.425

The brutal battle for power continues in the fourth book in the epic Empire of the Moghul series. Agra, India, 1606. Jahangir, the triumphant Moghul Emperor and ruler of most of the Indian subcontinent, is doomed. No amount of wealth and ruthlessness can protect him from his sons' desire for power. The glorious Moghul throne is worth any amount of bloodshed and betrayal; once Jahangir raised troops against his own father; now he faces a bloody battle with Khurram, the ablest of his warring sons. Worse is to come. Just as the heirs of Timur the Great share intelligence, physical strength and utter ruthlessness, they also have a great weakness for wine and opium. Once Jahangir is tempted, his talented wife, Mehrunissa, is only too willing to take up the reins of empire. And with Khurram and his half-brothers each still determined to be their father's heir, the savage battle for the Moghul throne will be more ferocious than even Timur could have imagined.

A very good sequal

I have brought the previous three books and loved the first two books but was disappointed with the third book "Ruler of the world" i had found it slow and boring and was hesitant to bring this book which is next in line...but i was not let down..like the first two the book was gripping and i found it hard to keep down..
the story is about the Emperor Jahangir and the next ruler to be Shah Jahan..How Shah Jahau is the good and loyal son and how Jahangir loves him but then due to the jealousies of his favourite wife who poisons his mind against Shah Jahan, Jahangir starts to hate Shah Jahan..in the end just like Babur and Hyuamun, Shah Jahan is forced to flee and live like an outcast...
Lovely book..good value for money

Extremely well written Book

Well i had been waiting for this book for last 1 year ever since i read Ruler of the world. The book has kept up to its hype. The way it has been written actually transforms from 2012 to the Mughal Era. Its a must read for anyone who is interested in History.

Hats of to Alex for pulling up yet another master Art.

A must buy for history fans

This is the fourth book of Empire of the Moghul series and I have loved each one of them. In fact it is the first series that am following religiously. Alex Rutherford combines fiction with history so perfectly that it doesn't ruin the history and makes it believable. You cannot keep down any book of this series. Its a perfect buy for someone who loves historical literature.

Also, I love the discounts that Flipkart gives. and the delivery is also very swift.

Brings alive the Mughal dynasty

The Tainted Throne is almost as much about Shah Jahan as about his father. So will the next book be more about Aurangzeb? This book could also have given the powerful Nur Jahan more space. Certainly a less interesting read than the three earlier books but does make a person wish for the next to come soon.

Empire of the Moghul by Alex Rutherfield

The book is worth the hype that had created before the book got launched. The best part is that the book has been written by a foreign writer in such a way that it can not be reproduced by an Indian author in spite of the fact that book is written keeping in view the Indian environment and history.
