Empowering Women Grassroots Experience from Tamil Nadu This study examines the role of Tamil Nadu Government in the Process of Development of Poor women through Self-help group. Evaluating the capability of women through their economic activities, it studies the interface between DRDA and SHG.

G. PALANITHURAI is a Professor in Rajiv Gandhi Chair, Gandhigram Rural Institute heading the Department of Political Science and Development Administration. T. PARTHIBAN has obtained his Ph.D. from Gandhigram, Tamil Nadu. He has had more than 10 years experience in different capacities starting from the Fellow in the UGC major Research Project in Gandhigram Rural Institute Vanishree Joseph is a Research Fellow, pursuing her research programme in "Gender and Governance" She has been involving in Organizing Panchayat Women Leaders for Social development activities.
