This book has a complete coverage of the course contents of Engineering Thermodynamics. The language and presentation in this book is easy for students to understand. The book follows the right approach by explaining the properties of pure substances before introducing the laws of Thermodynamics.

The book includes 534 Review Questions (Numerical), 220 Solved Examples, newly included 72 Multiple Choice Questions, and 550 Review Questions (Theoretical). The topics newly added in this edition include Applications of Thermodynamics, Automobiles-I.C. Engines, Power Generation-Steam Power Plants, Fuel Cells, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, and Alternative method to prove Inequality of Clausius.

The first six chapters include Introduction, Work and Heat Transfer, Temperature, First Law Applied to Flow Processes, First Law of Thermodynamics, and Second Law of Thermodynamics. The next six chapters cover Entropy, Properties of Pure Substances, Available Energy, Availability and Irreversibility, Properties of Gases and Mixtures, Properties of Pure Substances, Thermodynamics Relations, Equilibrium and Stability,  and Vapour Power Cycles. rigorous

This book cannot be read overnight. The author does not compromise in starting from the basics and the rigour. The concept of entropy very abstract and inexplicably everywhere is explained beautifully. I started appreciating the book when i started analyzing each graph ( A lot of the explanation is graphical). Well worth if you have the time and inclination to pore overit. But keep a more EXAM FRIENDLY book with you (-:

Good Read.

The book is a nice read. But at times very brief explanations have been provided which makes it difficult for an average student to follow. The flow of theory is good and the solved examples are very helpful in grasping the subject matter.

Conceptual book

In my view this book is very useful to build our basic knowledge & to understand concepts of thermodynamics. Very good solved examples, theoretical review questions. Just a amazing book.
Very good book for IES & other exams.
And what to say about service of Filpkart. It has changed the level of shopping.

Book to build concept, not for crammers..

This book is a very good book to build concept for begineers. It has topics described in such a way that you may consume time to understand the topic, but your understanding will be crystal clear.
this book is a must for students appearing for GATE or PSUs or Semesters as the author stressed more on Concept building.

Good for numericals not for concepts............

I read this book when I came across first time with thermodynamics....learned the facts but not able to build concepts...
Although book is very good from numerical point of view as its solution is available on internet but you should absolutely buy Cengel(Thermodynamics: An Engineering Approach) for basics and concepts.....Also I read A book of J.B. Jones of thermodynamics which is a very good one book......

Well Nag is worth buy.....
