Environment And Natural Resources: Ecological And Economics Perspectives

The natural environment provides a vast array of indispensable goods and services that support human beings and other life forms. Environmental goods and services are also important for economy, which uses natural resources as raw material, and environment as sink. However, due to rampant exploitation of natural resources and huge discharge of pollutants, the sustainable supply of environmental goods and services is highly threatened.

Dr O P Singh, Reader and Head, Centre for Environmental Studies, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, completed his university education from BHU, Varanasi. He also served Arunachal University, Itanagar as Reader and Head Department of Zoology during 1999-2001. He is also a recipient of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Fellowship, which he utilized to undertake postdoctoral research at the Bochum University, Bochum, during 1988-1991.
