About the Authors

P. N. Roy Chowdhury is an IAS veteran. He was the Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat from December 2009 to January 2011. He is actively involved in guiding students for competitive examinations.

good book for the basics

it is worth reading this book for civils mains preparation. it is a beginners book about the subject.
great book you can buy this book if u need to know about the basics. advanced learners better prefer other books

Actually right now this book is in monopolistic market, no good books are available for this topic. Very comprehensive and well written. Case studies part could have been better

best book for case studies

explanation was not good , they just copy paste info form different sources.. there is no connecticty offered between topics. but case studies was good

Good for case studies only

I found the book useful only for the case studies.
As for the other topics, the content is not logically arranged and the sentences are difficult to comprehend, not because of the language but because of lack of clarity.

Worst book for UPSC

I've wasted my 400 bucks on this book, now ordered Arihant.

This book is total crap except for the case studies. All portion not covered, highly unorganised book and lot of un-necessary information.

Lots of unnecessary things and imprecise coverage.

Dont go for this book.
There are better materials available in the market.
This book drags most of the topic ...misses out in covering syllabus with the viewpoint from the questions that are coming in the UPSC.

it is worthless book. nothing is clear in sentences. looks like copy and pasted from different sources with using even a little mind. two "distinguished IAS" have written a worst books.

Good for a novice.

Its language is good.Some topics of syllabus are missing.Some topics are elaborated needlessly and in the direction which is uncalled for.Total mess of Case studies.Thinkers western and Indian could have been explained better.Sufficient coherent elaboration of syllabus topics is missing.If you are buying it to cover attitude and behavior link type of topics then please don't.Rather buy 12th standard psychology Ncert for that.
