Indus Creed... my introduction to Indie rock. Of course, they were known as Rock Machine back then. I remember the good ol' glam rock days when "Top of the rock" would receive heavy airplay on MTV, a major achievement for an Indian band in those times. Their single "Pretty Child" made sure that I'd forever have a soft spot for them. Which is why I was actually ecstatic when I picked up a copy of their latest album "Evolve". Although very different from their sound 20 years ago (and to compare the two sounds would be just unfair), it's probably one of their most intense works to date. Fireflies, for one, is already on repeat on my playlist. And "Bulletproof" provides you with that classic rock sound that one would expect from an Indus Creed album.
The production quality, I must add is brilliant. Probably since they roped in Tim Palmer for the mixing. For those of you wondering, he's the man who was behind U2's Grammy winning effort, "All That You Can't Leave Behind" apart from his work with other major bands like Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, Blue October, Goo Goo Dolls etc.
So would I recommend this album? Hell yes!! And I suggest you go grab your copy NOW!!
The most creative band from India! They have successfully merged a plethora of rock and roll influences with meaningful lyrics. Not the typical garbage that the music industry churns. They are not ashamed of their Indian identity and yet reaches across to the world of rock to get their sounds - the hallmark of a true global band.
If we ever generate international music like that of African or Caribbean nations, and get international appeal using English as the medium, Indian music will only further enriched. And bands like Creed our way to get there. They prove that the talent is there, with a little patronage, and wider audiences, they can settle limelight they truly deserve.
Evolve is a right step in that direction.
I was just forced to write in response to the first review.
If you don't like the creative space a band is going through, it does'nt give you the right to feel sad for the band. Comparing what they were doing 20 years ago anyway is a false point to start.
Its commendable for Uday and boys to comeback after so long and put heart and soul into something they believe in. Kudos and I tip my hat to all of them.
The music is intense and mature and will grow on to serious listeners. Thank god the album does'nt sound like a collection of jingles.
From the advent of star TV in india to MTV we are loyal fans of Indus creed..india's offical rock band back then and still running strong with this album. Uday just sounds more refined and "Fireflies" just stole my heart. Great album in all.
Flipkart please provide album art with the downloads.
Big fan of Uday...since my childhood, IndusCreed music is always great..Dissolve,fireflies and come around is just amazing in this album.
Its great to know that this band is making a comeback ...hope they come out with more albums..
