Book: Exiled By Romanian Oppression: Legs Without Freedom: Memoir Of Teodor Popovici
Teodor Popovici, formerly a citizen of Romania, immigrated to the United States in 1989 with his wife and five children. Disabled from polio at the age of four, Teodor was thereafter permanently confined to a wheelchair. Teodor was raised by his grandparents due to parental neglect to the point of mortal danger to his life. Although in and out of hospitals, he progressed through school, lived independently, was married and had children. This memoir is a recount of Teodoras life while living in Romania under the communist rule of Ceausescu for twenty-four years. Even after his first attempt to immigrate to America was denied, nine years later, Teodor and his family successfully immigrated to the United States.
