Book Reviews of What to Expect When You're Expecting 4th Edition

This book served as bible for me during my pregnancy. Strongly recommend the same to all. The presentation is very interesting unlike some other books that i read. The information was a little repetitive at times, but overall it is good book. Most importantly, the book doesnt scare you much and makes you feel positive about pregnancy and delivery.

I ordered this book for my sister, and it turned out to be a great help. I personally feel that a lot of knowledge floating around with out previous generation are just old wives tales. This book gives a lot of scientific logic to almost all situations faced and the solutions for them. Also this book is updated regularly with problems faced in recent times, like cellphone radiation etc...

I would really recommend this book to clarify all your basic queries with respect to Pregnancy, I feel this should be used along with other sources available online. This book clearly gives you an idea whats gonna happen in each week like pregnancy symptoms,other women experiences, general checkup or screenings.

This book will definitely make you prepared for pregnancy,my wife read this book and she is happy with the information provided.

I'm a Childbirth Educator. From that point of view, this book is just plain waste of money. There are plenty of other INTELLIGENT books that a pregnant woman SHOULD read. This one is very superficial, it gives you a sweet rosy picture of childbirth and doesn't really prepare you. How do I know? Because I read it from cover to cover and gained very little. Luckily for me, i didn't buy it, someone lent it to me. But now that i have read other better books, this one seems like an M&B compared to the others. I personally don't think that women should have a rosy picture but the real picture. Medically speaking, this book contains very little in explaining what really happens with giving birth and how to manage pain. Most importantly, it DOES NOT talk about how doctors fidget with your body and interfere, making it difficult to have a normal birth. They always push for a C-section by scaring women. This book doesn't talk about it. It is a very Western viewpoint of everything. Doesn't have the Indian context. I could recommend better reading material.

this book contains useful information. Its better to have all your questions answered and focuss on the joy of having a new life growing inside, Theres nothing it doesnt address. A must buy for any first time mum.

My wife is in her first month and I wanted to gift her a book on pregnancy that is when I bumped into "What To Expect When You're Expecting". Initially I was reluctant in buying this book after reading all negative reviews on Amazon. But I followed by gut feeling and when the book reached me "Bingo". Its like a bible for all the new mum's n dad's. It is a must book. Its a bank of information during pregnancy, answers all you questions.

I would suggest if you don't like something in this book just ignore it and take only what you need or feel good :)

It is what we were looking for. This is ideal for first timers. This is a very good book and it was recommended by a close friend. We are in our sixth months and its really exciting for my wife as this book gives us a month by month detailed information on what is happening inside with the baby and the mother.
