Sylvia Main was born and raised in Vienna, Austria. She moved to Canada with her family as a teenager, and received her BA in Languages and Literature from the University of Victoria.

She has lived and travelled in Europe, where she is continuously inspired by the lifestyle and beautiful surroundings. She speaks English, German, Spanish, French and Italian.

Sylvia took her talents to the Fairmont Empress Hotel where she was in Guest Services for a number of years. In 1991, she married Roscoe Main, and the couple opened Fairholme Manor in Victoria's Rockland Estates area in 1999. Over the years, they have lovingly transformed their uglyduckling mansion into a beautifully restored European Inn.
