Facebook Effect, The (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.407

The Facebook Effect is an in-depth report on the growth of Facebook, one of the most impactful phenomena to hit the 21st century.

Summary Of The Book

The Facebook Effect presents David Kirkpatrick’s analysis of the rise of the social network called Facebook, which has turned into more of a social revolution than a mere publishing platform. The author explores various aspects of Facebook’s story, from its nondescript origin to its present global reach which is in excess of 500 million people.

He begins by describing how Facebook started out in a college dorm, created by two 19-year-olds looking to have some fun. It went on to turn into one of the most influential companies globally. Facebook’s powerful rise is built on the foundations of a strong vision and an uncompromising refusal to conform.

The book highlights the role played by Mark Zuckerberg, one of the co-founders, in taking the company higher and higher. It explores how Zuckerberg, with his laudable vision, maturity, determination, and strong business sense, has steered the company to the top.

The author had privileged access to Mark Zuckerberg and several of his top employees, providing the source of information for this book. The narrative reveals many interesting tidbits about how Zuckeberg and his colleagues pulled off such a coup by building the dynamo called Facebook.

The Facebook Effect was published in June 2010. It received positive reviews for its comprehensive coverage of the history of Facebook. In 2010, it was shortlisted for the Financial Times And Goldman Sachs Business Book Of The Year Award. This particular edition is a 2011 reprint by Virgin Books.

Must read

The true story or the closest a story can get about FACEBOOK and Mark Zuckerberg. The book is not just about Facebook's fin-nominal success but also teaches the other side of Facebook if it was in some other than Mark's hands.
The title is apt as it should be.
Absolute pleasure to read, couldn't put it down till it ended.

Facebook starting...

A wonderful book to know the starting peroid of Facebook, a lot different as compared to what it was shown in 'The Social network'.
Although I lost the interest towards the end as the book concentrated more on marketing and business related issues of Facebook.
On the whole a must buy for all Facebook fans who want to the real story.
