Synopsis and Features
EA Sports has a long-held reputation among virtual gamers as they bring out stellar games one year after another. With FIFA Football they have extended the platform for portable consoles, allowing gamers to play games wherever they want, whenever they want. With the inclusion of a spectacular Career mode, the game allows you to don the role of a player or a manager. This means you can play and score goals to help your team reach glory or manage it so efficiently that you blow the other teams out of the water. All these options make FIFA Football a must-own title for football fanatics.
Developed by Electronic Arts and published by EA Sports, FIFA Football will give you many sleepless nights with its addictive gameplay. The single-player mode is called a Career mode where you can manage a team or play as a player. Taking advantage of a calendar system, you can play a long 15 season career. You can track your progress in the game using the Friends Leaderboards and learn about your stats and earnings.
One of the clear highlights in the game include the Be a Pro mode. Here you can create a player from scratch, hone his skills and turn him into the next football legend. The mode provides for an entertaining gaming experience as you can develop individual skills of the player and then get him selected into a club or a national team.
The game takes excellent advantage of the touchscreen present at the back of the PS Vita console. You can use it to pass the ball to the most powerful player in the field and score goals effortlessly. If you are a fan of tournaments and would like to play them on a daily basis, FIFA Football offers more than 50 real-world tournaments from across the world.
FIFA Football can be an ideal gift for a football enthusiast as it includes more than 500 officially licensed clubs. You can challenge players from across the world and see how you score against them by playing the game online. You can learn tricks, tweak your gameplay and think of advance strategies to defeat your opponents by using the Training Mode. You can also play the game as a goalkeeper for hours to understand the nuances and difficulty of what goes into saving goals when you are playing against a friend. With the addition of 360° possession, no player is out of reach as you can steal the ball and score goals anytime you want.
FIFA has always been my favorite and luckily got this game as a gift from my favorite :) .
Coming to the game. It will take time for hardcore gamers to switch from the Big screen FIFA to a 5" OLED Display but once you get used to it, this game will keep you engaged all the time.
I'm not used to the touch screen gameplay hence, turned off the touch screen for the game. But I personally feel Free Kicks and player switch would be amazingly easy using the touch screen. The rear pad of Vita functions as a Goal which you can tap when near to the goal box but then you keep on touching the rear pad during the game. I turned that off too. The ergonomics are pretty cool for the Game. As the PS Vita lacks R2 and L2 controls it will take time to use only 2 keys instead 4. The online mode on Wi-Fi makes the game very interesting. (The only problem being disconnections during online play owing to network errors). The Analog stick is amazing and you can do all the tricks as if you were playing PS3.
To my surprise the graphics are better than that on PS3. It might seem exaggerated but then you will feel it when you own it :). The celebrations are nice. You can notice every single move of the player in Dynamic (near) view camera. All in all very good graphics.
The old FIFA bugs still persist. :-| Player stops infront of the ball all of a sudden and stares at it for hours. Stopping the cross is very very tough. Strikers are given an edge. Goal keepers are again made to look lame. long range shots are easy to take. If a player quits within first 20 mins of online play no one is awarded any points.
Value for money:
If you love FIFA and wanna have it on the go. Get it :)
P.S: FIFA 13 might be out for Vita. Keep an eye over it this oct or nov :D
Bought this from a retail shop and not through flipkart for my son. Having seen him play and enjoy, tried my hands on it as well. Extremely well detailed game with players, stadiums and the pitch lay out being presented with good graphics. Music too is good. Sometimes, the commentary may get between you and the game. Lots of options to customise the game. Had played fifa 10 on the pc before. Got a similar experience. Recommended for any football fan who wants this game on his portable gaming device. Thumbs up for gameplay. Lots of trophies to earn by completing challenges.
Game play 5/5
Audio 4/5 (commentary at times could be a bit annoying)
Using features of PS Vita 5/5 (Touch screen /rearpad)
Value for Money 4/5 (a bit expensive!)
The reviews I'd read on the net rate this game highly, so being a football fan I decided this title should be a must-have. However, the graphics quite disappointed me and somehow I did not feel very involved in the gameplay as I am in other games (I find VT4 and Unit 13 ALOT more engaging). If one needs a decent view of most players on the pitch then you need a zoomed out camera view, and in such a view the players seem too small on the 5" screen and the rendering of the players and pitch isn't impressive at all. I hope they make progress in the graphics department for the next version, otherwise everything else was more or less in line with my expectations.
It Is Absolutely The Must Have Vita Game. The Controls And Gameplay Do This Title Justice. Although the Online Could Have Been Better It Is Still One Of The Best Games I Have Seen For Vita
