The BEST you can think of!!

I was damn confused between the Fuji HS20, the Canon SX30IS, Sony HX100V, and the Nikon Coolpix P500. So u can clearly see I wanted a bridge cam and not a DSLR. I checked reviews online for say 7 hours, and then finally decided to buy upon the Fuji HS20. The reason mainly is the host of features you get on this cam, really comparable to a DSLR. None of the competition had this much amount of manual control in the photographer's hands. I am a hobbyist photographer, and click mainly nature and wildlife. If at all you think of upgrading from a digicam to a bridge, go for it without any second... ()

None of the competition had this much amount of manual control in the photographer's hands. I am a hobbyist photographer, and click mainly nature and wildlife. If at all you think of upgrading from a digicam to a bridge, go for it without any second thoughts. It is simply the best your money can get. there's a dark side too, though, its a little heavy. heavier than all its competition owing to the full manual barrel operated zoom lens. the EXR sensor works wonders. the picture quality is amazing, the videos are quite decent at full HD, and theres also a high speed video mode. so its a full most wanted minda package. GO FOR IT!!

It works on alkaline or NiMH AA size batteries, so running out of power is a thing of the past. The CMOS sensor also does justice while clicking RAW Pictures.

A MUST BUY..!!

Worth every penny......

After using the camera for more than a month, i am in a very good position to summarize that it is a very good product by fuji..... Lately they are making some very good cameras like the x-series......
The photos are great in normal lighting and more than good in low light....... But with higher iso, the noise is distinct........
The zoom range is more than you can handle handheld....... But you miss the digital zoom while shooting the moon...... This issue is solved with their new hs30(not yet released, maybe in another 3/4 months)........

The zoom range is more than you can handle handheld....... But you miss the digital zoom while shooting the moon...... This issue is solved with their new hs30(not yet released, maybe in another 3/4 months)........
The manual focus ring is ok...... But nothing close to a dslr......... But i think the autofocus handles 95% of the situations, so no need to bother..........
The camera is what a suv to the cars....... Handles all the situations but drains the battery, specially in exr mode...... Wise to keep a spare set of batteries.........
One thing i dont like it that it doesnt have sleep function....... Its either on or off...... That also drains the battery..... Yes, you can use the evf instead of the display and switch the display off..........
After buying books, this is the costliest thing i got from flipkart....... And it is spot on again..... But flipkart.... Why the price rise lately.......the gap between the price in retail and in flipkart is closing........... Planning to buy a ps2, but the price is similar to the price qouted in sony official site......... Do something flipkart, we like you a lot and your special price here...................

The best that is out there...

I was in a dilemma to buy a DSLR or Bridge Camera due to a need for Nature/Bird Photography but based on my own research, DSLR with Telephoto lenses would have costed a fortune. So the choice narrowed down to Sony HX100V, Panasonic FZ150, Canon SX40IS & Fujifilm HS20EXR. Going by the features offered Fujifilm HS20EXR & Panasonic FZ150 are the only cameras with good manual controls. So after lot of to & fro, I decided to buy Fujifilm HS20EXR. Going by the features offered Fujifilm HS20EXR & Panasonic FZ150 are the only cameras with good manual controls. So after lot of to & fro, I decided to buy Fujifilm HS20EXR. Flipkart had a good deal (4GB Card with Envie Charger NiMH Batteries) and I was very happy with the delivered goods on time and in good condition. Now for the Camera, It is not for people without any prior experience of Point&Shoot cameras or people should be prepared to learn to use the camera as it is very close to DSLR in operation with Manual Barrel Zoom (as against motorized zoom on other cameras). The key features of this camera: (1) BSI CMOS Sensor with really good Low-Light Performance upto ISO800 (expandable upto 12800 ISO with lower resolution (2) Manual Zoom Barrel with Manual Focus (really useful if you want to quickly go from 24mm to 600mm but it takes some getting used to). (3) EXR Modes: High Resolution, Low Light and Dynamic Range, these modes depending on the scene settings can get really nice photos. You may need a tripod in some cases. (4) Picture quality: Supports both RAW JPEG and it is really JPEG in-camera produces good photos and have settings for Sharpness / Noise handling making it very versatile. (5) High FPS: High Frames per second is another useful feature and can take really quick snaps of a moving object. You need atleast a Class 10 SD card to make it more useful. (6) Color Accuracy: Fuji Colors have been very close to natural and some post-processing gets the best out of them. (7) Super Macro: Really useful mode with Flowers or insects nearby and can get very close upto 1cm. And many other features like Shutter Speed (ISO100 from 30 Secs 1/4000 Sec), AE/AF Lock, 58mm Lens thread for additional lenses / filters etc make it really versatile.
Of course there are downsides too. The video for one is good but not great as the Focus hunting problem is well documented. I overcome this by setting the focus to "Center AF" instead of continuous, shut off the Face Recognition option and holding the camera steady with minimal zoom action. All in all, a very good camera and if you want a camera to step up to a DSLR, this is the best that is out there.

Its been 2 months now since I have this bridge. But its more than a bridge for me. Was confused btween Sony HX v100, Lumix FZ40 and Coolpix P500, but finally got the best. Others in this range has similar features but this has got manual focus and zoom, which puts HS20 10 steps ahead of others in this range. People who don't wanna go for a DSLR can go for this one without any hickups. The manual zoom and focus will give a dslr xperience for sure. The functions are all of those what a dslr should have.
My personal exp, this has got a CMOS sensor, which is way ahead than that of a CCD.

Dont think that the Alkaline batt are bad. I hav taken min 600 shots, and you can keep a 1 more set of battery in hand if u r in a long journey, where as charging will b a prob in a Lithium ion batt.

I being a rookie is fully satisfied
