P. Gisbert's comprehensive book has proved of great use to both students and teachers of sociology. The third edition is especially detailed in the parts dealing with the economic system and industry, population and food supply, where the greatest changes have occurred over the decades. About the Author
Pascual Gisbert was formerly Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology of St.-Xavier's College, Mumbai, and lectured to post-graduate students at the University of Mumbai. Born in 1905, he had an academic grounding in Classics, Philosophy and Theology in Europe, then studied Sociology at the London School of Economics, and later at the Institute of Social Sciences at St. Louis University, Missouri, USA During this time he was a visiting lecturer to BA students at Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Missouri. He also contributed articles to various Spanish and English publications.
