IITians in India are a privileged lot. They toil to enter the portals of India's most prestigious engineering college, but once their education is complete, seven figure salaries and blazing career paths await them. However, there are people who break the mould – IITians who have rejected cushy jobs because their inner instinct told them that bigger and better things awaited them if they took a different path. This book traces the story of 20 such individuals from IIT Kharagpur.
The book covers the stories of some quite well-known figures. They include Krishna Mehta, Ventakata Subramaniam, Sunil Gaitonde, Arvind Kejriwal, Anuradha Acharya, Vikram Kumar, Bikash Barai, Praful Kulkarni, Anand Deshpande, Vijay Kumar, Arjun Malhotra, Sam Dalal, Suhas Patil, Kiran Seth, Bikram Dasgupta, Prabhakant Sinha, Ranbir Singh Gupta, Vinod Gupta, Sridhar Mittal and Harish Hande.
Dr Damodar Acharya, director, IIT Kharagpur, has written the introduction. There is also a Foreword by Dr D Subbarao, Governor, Reserve Bank of India. The book gives the reader a peep into people who have made a success of their life by taking the path less trodden. In addition to this, there are also valuable insights and advice from the people featured in the book.

The description of this book was what caught my attention, and I ended up buying a copy.
The book stays true to its title and provides an inspiring and exciting account of how 20 entrepreneurs from IIT Kharagpur changed the way the 'game' is played. They risked their career and turned down white collar job offers to start something of their own. The ups and downs faced by them in their endeavors to do something different makes one think how big dreams are achieved.
The extraordinary style of narration separates this book from others in its category. The best part being the fact that the language is simple and can be understood by anyone, you don't need to be a tech or management expert to understand the context. Highly recommended and a must read !
this is a 1st and only book of its sort. for many people who chase there dreams to become an IITian this will be a eye opening and refreshing book. i could simply put it as a must read book for all IIT aspirants above all faddu books by some mr IIT (i didnt mean chetan bhagat :P )
Anyway it will disillusionise all the countryside hype of just to become a IITian is everything in life. By the end of the book you will answer the question "how to become great/famed/entrepreneur/successfull r what soever?" with simple one word answer " passion " instead of "by becoming an IITian"
on personal front i would have liked it a bit more if it would have been little more like novel, but still this wont be an excuse since managing to mix the aspects it covered would be difficult by making it look like a novel. above its the only book of its sort for our folk at 11/12th class
The book titled 'The Game Changer' gives a lot of feeling about all the entrepreneurship stuff. But I was disappointed to find the content of the book more like a diary of IIT-Kharagpur. It simply doesn't give the feel of what you expect from the book as it is titled. Of course, the brand IIT works!
The book can be categorized as a 'me-too' book that just tries to emulate the success story of 'Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish- IIMA'. A point to be noted here is.......it fails!
I always like to read books which are not fictious and inspiring at the same time.. This book perfectly matches my requirements. I got really inspired and motivated after reading this book. It beautifully describes the real life stories of some of the influential personalities. I really enjoyed reading this. I recommend it to all the people who want to be successful in their life.
Most of the success stories are very inspiring. Undoubtedly there's a lot to learn from these brilliant minds. But the underwhelming accounts in this book simply fail to do justice to them. Book-writing is an art : a point the authors seem to have completely missed. The authors simply decided to join the bandwagon and create a typical "wanna-be" (or as some other reviewer rightly said "me too") book. Given the caliber of those entrepreneurs, I believe they deserve a a book from authors who actually know how to write.
This book gives a good review about people who dared to dream and wanted to do something different life even though they studie...
