Stieg Larsson was a Swedish journalist and writer who passed away in 2004. He was a journalist and the editor of the magazine, Expo. He was active in exposing and documenting extreme right and racist organisations. His books have been bestsellers in the United States and Canada.

Nothing like anything you've read before!

Being a self-confessed book worm I can assure you that this series of books by the very talented Stieg Larsson is nothing like any other novel you've ever read. The characters simply explode on your face, the story line is gripping, and its the best combination of intrigue, violence, and romance that I bet you will not find in any other novel.
Its really a tragedy that Larsson died even before his books went into print and before he could see what a worldwide phenomenon they've become!

This is an amazing book, usually I don't read books but this is a great book,I read it when going to sleep, I love it, it is drug for me, get it or get a life! I really love it and no words for it, I am even going for the movie's bluray now :D

Pacy page turner

The lead character is an absolute treat...she has so many layers and still seems so cut away from the world...this is a really nice book and i am pleasantly surprised that this was the author's first.. cant wait to read the next 2 of the trilogy....Definitely recommended for all....

The book is overall good but it was not like people have described it.It certainly has some strong characters especially the girl with dragon tattoo.I would like to rate it as a good crime thriller but not among one of the greatest reads.

Very good read but not worth the hype

I gave it a 4/5 because it IS an excellent read , and the characters are fascinating but the plot isn't spectacular.
Don't get me wrong , it's great , just not as great as the recent hype would have you feel.
The themes are dark and the overall mood of the story is pretty grim.You'll be able to tell that it is a translation ( from the original Swedish ) but that's not to say that the translation isn't good , it IS.
Over all , without spoiling anything I'd say the characters , and one in parti...

Riveting

A dark and deeply engaging thriller about a manhunt that soon takes a rather twisted turn. I must admit I bought it specifically to read before watching the movie and I couldn't be more glad that I did. As much fun as it would be to watch the movie, I can't imagine Larsson's character design for Lisbeth Salander to be replicated as well in a movie as is in the book.

I definitely recommend this for whoever loves to sit back with a fast-paced, yet intelligently written thriller. Can't wait to...

It seems to be an act of pure providence that I had gotten a copy of this book almost 2 years back as part of a review package. But it hadn't struck me then how big it was slated to be. And now that David Fincher decided to make a movie of it, I rushed to flipkart and ordered for the book in an attempt to read it before the film released in India. Good book!! And they say "Unputdownable"

It takes a few pages into the book to get a grip.. And after that it just HOLDS you.. The character development and the plot is pretty good. It keeps you interested till the very last page.
