Gone with the Wind (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.1093

Margaret Mitchell's epic novel of love and war won the Pulitzer Prize and went on to give rise to two authorized sequels and one of the most popular and celebrated movies of all time.

Many novels have been written about the Civil War and its aftermath. None take us into the burning fields and cities of the American South as Gone With the Wind does, creating haunting scenes and thrilling portraits of characters so vivid that we remember their words and feel their fear and hunger for the rest of our lives.

In the two main characters, the white-shouldered, irresistible Scarlett and the flashy, contemptuous Rhett, Margaret Mitchell not only conveyed a timeless story of survival under the harshest of circumstances, she also created two of the most famous lovers in the English-speaking world since Romeo and Juliet.

Magic...

I honestly do not know whether to give this book 5 stars for being one of the most completely engrossing, shocking, and emotionally absorbing pieces of literature ever written, or to give it 0 stars for being the most tragic, unendingly upsetting, disturbing book I've ever read. It was so completely absorbing and magical. I can???t even begin to describe it. Just like love and other abstract stuff, this book needs to be experienced. A must must must read.

A Must Read for Anyone With a Conscience

With Scarlett O'Hara, one of literature's most well known personalities, as it's lead protagonist, Gone With The Wind lives upto all the hype that surrounds it,as one of the greatest love stories ever,by actually not being an out-and-out love story.
A great narration that transports you to the not-so-familiar times of the late 1800s,real characters who have both virtues and vices and are therefore, both endearing and not so endearing at the same time,Gone With The Wind makes one see the other side (i.e. the southerners' outlook) of the civil war coin, helps one broaden their outlook,entertains...

More than anything, one grows with Scarlett as she does, with every page of the book.
So,I'd definitely recommend Gone With The Wind, for at the end of the day,Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler will make you fall in love with them,as they do themselves. It really is a book for people of all generations, and the ultimate love story.

A must-read for any book lover!

There are just way too many things I love about this book!

One, it a journey into a life that I, a city-dweller in the 21st century has never, and will never lead; two, it has characters you easily relate to and feel connected to; three, it is a very effective portrayal of life in its true unfair sense and not the perfect, ideal one that we read about in a lot of other books.

Rhet Butler is another reason I read this book again and again, and each time I read it, I find myself wistfully wishing men like that existed in real life!

Rhet Butler is another reason I read this book again and again, and each time I read it, I find myself wistfully wishing men like that existed in real life!

Scarlet's character is another intriguing factor of the book. As you read along you love her, hate her, and wonder what on earth was she thinking; much like you do with the people in your life!

So all in all, I love the book. have read it at least 4 times, and it never gets boring!

LOVE it

This seminal work is not only a study of a culture that is lost and a war that has destroyed the very roots of a society but it is also the story of creation and destruction, of preservation and extinction and most importantly of growth and maturity and loss.

A marvellous, unforgettable love story...

It's literally a week after finishing this book that I can bear at all to write a review. I bought the book a few months ago,but its sheer size scared me off. Many a times I took the book, flipped through 3-4 pages and put it back in the shelf. And then finally I read it. And I loved it. This boo... (View complete review)

Bad quality

The story is good but the quality of product is very bad. The pages are not good according to the price charged. Besides the book and font size both are very small. I do not recommend this book. (View complete review)
