better than a Bluetooth receiver

Was skeptic about the Chromecast Audio's performance and Hi-fidelity sound.
But it works perfect. Have connected it to a 2.1 speaker system.

What is possible ?

Love this product

This device works as advertised. It will let you stream music via WiFi without compromising on audio quality. Works well with Hi-Fi music systems as well. You can stream internet radio here or you could simply play offline music using some third party app. I personally use BubbleUPnP to play offline content on Chromecast. After prolonged use the device heats up a bit, but no effect on performance is seen.

Bang for the buck...superb sound quality through its onboard DAC. Tested with high quality flac rips using a Cambridge Audio AM10 amplifier connected to a custom speakers made with 8 inch full range driver from Dayton Audio. No need to buy a seperate DAC. Ensure to enable the high Dynamic range setting of Chromecast Audio, as this is OFF by default as this makes a huge difference in the soundstage. Fabulous!

Saves me money and time searching and buying CD's. Saves me space from stocking the CD's too. Guess this is the new generations way to listen. I will still be on the lookout for CD's that will add value to my collection.

In the meanwhile this works very well. Connected to my decade old AVR via the analogue inputs on the "TAPE" mode selection (quite appropriately since my listening is mostly the old tape collections of my brothers that i grew up hearing)

Good choice

I was looking for this product for a very long time and finally ordered it. I'll break down the review in sub parts.
Audio : Just amazing. 24 bit/192 khz is for real and you'll be impressed by the sheer quality of sound it delivers.
Connectivity : Easy to set up and a powerful WiFi router will obviously complement the Chromecast audio.
App support : Not all apps support Chromecast. But there are plenty to choose from and it's not much of a problem.

Terrific

Wifi audio streamers are always better than bluetooth. Google's audio cast is better than any bluetooth audio receiver. Though slightly costlier, it is worth it's price because of the sound quality. I have used a mini toslink to toslink cable to stream the audio to my Yamaha home theater and the output is any audiophiles delight. I have not found any cons but only pros. The sound quality is what I liked. Remember that sound quality also depends on the source.

The best wireless audio experience. The quality is much better than Bluetooth alternatives. And the setup is plug and play.
Note that you need a constant internet connection for chromecast to work. Not a very convenient option for offline music playback. Most suitable if you use google play music, gaana, saavn and other online music services.

best for the price

Bought it months ago when it was released in US. Easily a worthy product for 35$. Please dont compare it with blutooth speakers. It has better sound output then blutooth or wired(3.5) connection. And range is far better than blutooth. Recommended wifi speed needed greater than 2Mbps. Although can also stream in 512Mbps. Recommended cast apps are SoundCloud, tune in and wynk music.

A:No, it will not. Chromecast Audio accesses a separate streaming service from Google Play Music, Gaana, Saavn among others. It cannot cast only movie soundtracks from Google Play Movies, Netflix etc.
