About Tom White

Tom White is a Hadoop expert and works at Cloudera as a software engineer.

White is an Apache Software Foundation member and has been an Apache Hadoop committer. At Cloudera, Tom has been working on the core distributions from Apache and Cloudera, since its foundation. Tom White also gives speeches at many conferences, such as ApacheCon and OSCON on Hadoop and cloud computing. He completed his B.A. from the University of Cambridge in mathematics and obtained his M.A. degree from the University of Leeds in philosophy of science. He resides in Brecon Beacons, Wales, along with his family. Apart from the book, he has published many technical articles for java.net, O’Reilly and developerWorks of IBM. He also writes for the Cloudera’s blog. He was the founder of the Apache Whirr project.
