Discover Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Salman Rushdie’s classic fantasy novel

Set in an exotic Eastern landscape peopled by magicians and fantastic talking animals, Salman Rushdie's classic children's novel Haroun and the Sea of Stories inhabits the same imaginative space as The Lord of the Rings, The Alchemist, and The Wizard of Oz. In this captivating work of fantasy from the author of Midnight’s Children and The Enchantress of Florence, Haroun sets out on an adventure to restore the poisoned source of the sea of stories. On the way, he encounters many foes, all intent on draining the sea of all its storytelling powers.

Also look for Salman Rushdie’s next book, Joseph Anton: A Memoir, coming fall 2012.

    Rushdie's gift of gab

This story is about a little boy Haroun whose father Rashid is a story teller. Rashid's gift of gab is a bright spot in an otherwise dull world. But disaster strikes when Rashid loses this gift. Haroun is horrified and is determined to rescue his father and restore his gift. And then begins a magical adventure. Like the story teller Rashid in the book, Salman Rushdie weaves an intricate tale of fantasy and imagination.

It is very different from most of the other fiction I have read. When I ...

    An elaborate fantasy tale

I finished this book within one day. Salman Rushdie has is very good in creating fairy tales. Sometimes the fantasies are too much. Would not recommend to those who are not used to fantasy reading, because while reading this you might get confused. Lastly, a great deal from Flipkart!

Fly there to Sea of Stories

Written By Salman Rushdie for his own son, Zafar, the book truely reflects the love of a father for his son, the very different way of education.
It is a tale of Master Story Teller Rashid (also known as Shah of Blah), his son Haroun & their adventure to the planet Kahani.

The book, before purchasing I thought of was as collection of short fairy tales , but it is one continuous story of victory of good over bad. The plot runs very smooth & velvety manner, keeps the reader attached with conti...
