Hear Us Roar!

From Geraldine Carroll... Lindenwold School District Superintendent: ------Students spend their entire educational career reading literature, learning about writers, and wondering why they need to spend so much time picking apart stories and poems written by a bunch of "Old dead guys." These teens also are the most often misunderstood and least often accepted members of their community. Hear Us ROAR finally gives them a voice and gives relevancy to all that they have learned. -- their hard work, struggles, laughter and tears as they express their fears, dreams, and aspirations has been even more rewarding than seeing the final product, a published book. Congratulations to the warm and talented writers from The Teen Writers Guild of Lindenwold High School who were willing to take a risk to lay open for peer and public examination, their deepest thoughts and feelings and for working so hard to make sure that their poems and stories would touch the reader as literature is meant to do. It is this kind of commitment that brings out the best in our kids and has turned them from students into authors and poets.
