Summary Of The Book
Wren and Martin’s High School English Grammar & Composition is a book that is used to exclusively teach people how to build sentences and use the appropriate grammar in the English language. The new and revised edition has been updated to include recent changes to the language and contains information about the globally accepted forms of sentences.
Based on a research study in English, several changes have been incorporated in the book, which contains full-colour illustrations for better guidance. There are two appendices, the first dealing with American English and the second, with a new set of tests on grammar.
The topics covered include an introduction to subject and predicate, sentences, phrases and clauses, parts of speech, the noun and its kinds, the adjective and its usage and position, articles, pronouns and its types, verbs, active and passive voices, mood, tenses: past, present and future, infinitives, gerunds, participles, irregular verbs, modals and auxiliaries, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, and parts of speech.
This edition of the book was published in 2009.
About The Authors
P.C. Wren was a famous British author of adventure fiction.
His most famous books are Beau Geste, Beau Sabreur, and Beau Ideal. Apart from this trilogy, he has also written many novels and short stories, like Snake And Sword, The Wages Of Virtue, and Valiant Dust. Books jointly written by Wren and Martin include Elementary English Grammar, A First Book of English Grammar and Composition, and A Final course of Grammar & Composition.
Wren was involved with the Educational Inspectorate for Sind during his time in British India, and was also the headmaster of Karachi High School. During the colonial era, Wren and H. Martin wrote the first edition of High School English Grammar & Composition primarily for children of British officers residing in India during the British Raj. Their books were very popular when they were first published, and continue to remain the most preferred ones for English grammar guidelines.
H. Martin was also a popular writer, who was conferred the title of Officer Of The Most Excellent Order Of The British Empire (OBE) for his contributions.

I wonder only the names are changed by the Indian Author or the original books contents are modified in the name of Revision..
Wren And Martin itself are a great series of books and it doesn't need Revision or any makeover by any author...(Just My Opinion)
I have read the the Wren And Martin series during 19993-94,but don't remember the exact contents and the Edition now...

i got the latest edition
at the time of purchasing i am tensed about the edition of the book because website is showing 2005 but they people said to sir if book is of old edition you can return the book i refund you the money
but when i got the book its completely new edition in very good price and in very good condition if you want to purchase this book go ahead a very nice book

go for raymond murphy's books
wren and martin was the first book on grammar that i purchased in my school days... after finishing my school i purchased murphy's books on grammar(available here in the price range of rs.99-301) and i find these books extremely helpful as compared to this particular book....the reason for the success of this book is the word of mouth publicity (mostly done by people who hardly know a thing or two of english)..the content of this book lacks quality....i strongly recommend raymond murphy's books for better understanding of english grammar.

A Great Combination of the Book and it's Key
Ordered it along with the "Key To Wren & Martin's High School English Grammar & Composition" and a timely delivery was done by flipkart. It is a very popular book in students community and is really very useful for all of us. I've purchased it specially for my Children to enhance their English Language skills grammatically and also to revise and test my own english language skills once again after passing my MA in English Literature way back in 1999. This book along with it's key is a great combination one can really have. Just go for it without any second thoughts.

this book was my 7th item from the flipkart by now...and i have got the delivery of every item on the day it was expected to be delivered...
i am very impressed by the quick service of flip kart and authenticity of the products..
i had read the wren and martin's high school English grammar book at my friends place....i could only read few pages of the book...but those few pages were enough to make me buy a copy for myself...i searched the book in my town but could not find it..finally i found it over the flipkart.com and now its on my book shelf.
