Hold My Hand (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.79

Hold My Hand lets the readers experience the magic of an unlikely romance, and the sights and smells and sounds of Hong Kong, as a shy and awkward boy falls in love with a beautiful blind girl.

Summary Of The Book

Deep is a nerd, too immersed in books and academic pursuits to have much fun. Now, even his work has him associated with libraries. His company, ATS Technologies, sends him to their head office in Hong Kong to study their library software.

Deep is filled with excitement at the prospect and lands in Hong Kong with a lot of dreams. Soob, one more character, is added when he meets the stunningly beautiful Ahana. Shy and awkward by nature, Deep is strangely drawn towards Ahana, who is blind.

Hold My Hand follows the pair as they learn about each other and also explore Hong Kong. Ahana introduces him to the various smells and sounds of the city, while Deep shares with her his visual experience. Their bond grows closer with their shared experiences.

Both have their own problems to deal with. If Ahana has her blindness, Deep has some insecurities about himself. But their affection seems all set to deepen into something else, when Ahana’s ex-boyfriend reappears and the picture becomes murky.

Hold My Hand has a lot of supporting characters who also contribute towards the plot and keep it moving forward. Deep’s very caring parents, his friend Aman who is a complete contrast to him, all set the stage in the initial part of the book.

The readers are kept guessing as to how the romance between Deep and Ahana is going to end.

Beautiful, beautiful book

This could be the most beautiful Durjoy Datta novel. The male protagonist is an eighteen year old boy named Deep, who's just adorable. He's also a complete bookworm and wants to be a writer one day. When he's given a chance to go to Hong Kong for a project (internship or such; he's a first year student), he meets a girl, who apart from being pretty, mysterious and sweet, is also blind. Ahana has been blind since she was a child, and is staying at the same hotel Deep is. They become friends quickly.

Ahana has been blind since she was a child, and is staying at the same hotel Deep is. They become friends quickly.

They travel around the wonderful city of Hong Kong together, Deep being Ahana's eyes, describing everything he sees, and Ahana tells him how she felt when she first visited all of the places with her father. She has been living there for a year now, and adding that to her blindness, she has her own take on every place they visit. It becomes their own adventure, and I felt amazing taking this tour with them!

Words literally came alive, in words of the author. Every thing is so finely described I could see a motion picture running before my eyes. I loved Deep. I loved Ahana. I loved their story.

Already waiting for the next Durjoy Datta book! I'd definitely recommend this book to everyone! I'm sure it will be loved and enjoyed by all. :)

Held my heart but left it with a slight disappointment.

Well, I have read almost all Durjoy Datta novels. Till date, I had TIll the Last Breath as my favourite, but after this, it still remains my favourite novel. So let me give a detailed review in points.

PROS:
1) Durjoy's new writing style. He has used a beautiful blend of anecdotes, metaphors and irony to describe the things. There are so many of them. Like the reflection of sunlight over the water as diamonds floating in the water, and many more. Hats off to this new style.

2)The characters. Personally I don't like Deb and Avantika much. They sound a bit out of the world. Although the st...

2)The characters. Personally I don't like Deb and Avantika much. They sound a bit out of the world. Although the stories are good. But here, the characterization is genuine. Deep wants to be a writer and hence uses language and eyes of a writer. Ahana is blind and at none of the points, her expressions have flawed or sounded fake. Ranbeer is daddy cool, who loves his daughter like his life. Sadhika's character, though not properly described is described enough to frame a picture of her in my mind.

3) Hong Kong - I literally travelled Hong Kong with Durjoy. The beauty of the city and the magic of Durjoy's words, a rare and beautiful extravaganza.

CONS

1) The story - Its too simple with a dish with a gush of chilli through Ranbeer's aeroplane testing fiasco. And the book is too short. A rough 15 Pages are advertisements of other books.

2) Aveek's character - It could have been much better exploited. Before reading the book, I thought that he was an important character. But he is not. He is just like a junior actor who comes for 2-3 odd chapters.

3) This wasn't isn't a con, but a personal opinion. Some pages, like around 5-6 pages felt a little dragged at the start.

Rest everything seems like a dream in this novel. Worth a read for everybody. GO FOR IT!

HEARTS MELT TO BE ONE SOUL

Ummm..It's an ok book By Durjoy

When it comes to reading our favorite author, we do not even see the backcover and check synopsis whether the story is of our type or not, we just purchase the book without making any 2nd thought. This is what I did when I came to know that Durjoy Datta's 9th book is up for pre-ordering. First, I logged in to Flipkart, ordered the book and then read what's it all about. This is the 2nd book of Durjoy which gets published by India's No.1 publisher- Penguin. And this is only the 3rd book in which he has no co-author and he has done all the work single-handed. The speed with which he comes up with a new book is quite exciting as we, his loyal readers, do not have to wait for a long time to read what our favorite writer writes. The ratio of every 100th blog of mine and his new book coming is almost the same. Whenever I am up with a century post, there's a new book of Mr. Durjoy. :-) Hence, he has 9 books in his pocket while I have 900 Blog Posts. :-) I hope he is coming up with his next up till December. Haha!

REVIEW OF THE AUTHOR'S BLOG

It's my first one of durjoy dutta and I felt really impressed. I generally don't like love stories but this one left an impact on my heart. Truly unexpectable. I loved the part when Ahana was narrating her blind life. I loved the writer's way of pouring the emotions in appropriate amount. But the first part was a bit depressing when narration was done by Deep. It sounded a bit boring.
Durjoy has presented Ahana immensely alive to the reader but in comparison to that Deep fells a bit dead. I found it difficult to connect with other character of the novel other than Ahana.

I loved Durjoy's style and will definitely be going for his other works too.

BEAUTY-
1-The way Ahana showed the world to Deep.
2-Durjoy presented the blind world beautifully.
3-Deep???s way of linking every event to the character of his book.

BEAST-
1-Opening of the novel doesn???t seem to grab the reader instantly.
2-Plot is beautiful but Durjoy failed to make it magical.
3-End is not satisfying.

Waste of money !!!

Although I titled it as a waste of money but actually if any one liked "If it's not forever it's not love" also written by the same author , the person would probably love this. There is always a tendency of the author to make every impossible thing possible in his stories. That's what... (View complete review)

An emotional travelogue

The characters seemed to be out of peppy american television yet there was some real feel to it. The humour was subtle and smooth and left a long lasting impression. There were someplaces I wanted to read again for the sake of the feelings it arroused. Overall a good read. (View complete review)
